Got this one at Uweajimaya in Beaverton, OR on our summer vacation. Kind of looks like Jiffy Pop, doesn’t it? So you’re supposed to dump in stuff and cook it on the stove in this foil container. I’m going to use a pot. Thought I should check out Wikipedia about this variety:

Time for breakfast! Been waiting to try this one for just the right day. Just look at those enormous shrimp on that package! Jeez! I’m sure this will make for a good breakfast. Got this one at the local H Mart. By the way – today is a holiday – check out what Wikipedia says about it:

This one was donated by Ramen Place – thanks again! I haven’t a clue of how this one will be. Looks like its celebrating the 10th anniversary of CheilJedang or this product. Well, let’s give it a try!

In the past reviews of Baijia products, I haven’t been really stoked. I have been told by those keen on Sichuan cuisine that this is good stuff, but I think I’m not one of those who are keen on Sichuan cuisine. Regardless, I shall try this with an open mind. Let’s have a go at this one.

Haven’t had an Indomie in a while! This one’s Cakalang. Cakalang is also known as Skipjack tuna. Been looking forward to this.

Here’s an interesting one: you empty everything into the bowl, add boiling water and poof – it’s done. They’re called it ‘no wait.’ Let’s give it a try.

My friend Todd T, clued me in the other day about a new Asian grocery on 99 in south Everett and we checked it out. Well, I found this interesting one. Vietnamese kimchi ramn! Check it out!

Spent some time hanging out with my friend Matt B. the other day and we went to HT Oaktree Market on 100th & Aurora in Seattle and found this new one. But what is Asam Laksa? Here’s what Wikipedia has to say:

Today is probably the hottest day we’re going to have in Western Washington this summer. Right now it’s 88 degrees! I thought a nice bowl of spicy noodles would go well with it. I mean, isn’t it hot in Thailand too?

This is one that came from Courtnay N. of Surrey, BC – thanks! Maruchan makes lots of instant noodles that can be found in the USA, but of course they make varieties that are only available in Japan – this is one of them.

Got this one at a grocery store in Livermore, California called Nob Hill. Pretty rare these days that I find something I haven’t tried in a grocery store!

So this is what you would find in the Korean superkarket if you wanted to get some Mild Neoguri. A while back I reviewed the US version. Let’s give this one a try!

Today I received a big box full of instant noodles from South Korea! These are made by emart. If you can imagine a Korean version of Walmart, you’re on the right track – these are super huge superstores over there. Anyways, a fellow from emart contacted me about reviewing this new product of theirs and of course I said yes. They sent a box with some nice hats and 8 of these 6 pakcs – yep – 48 packages of noodles! Wow!

Yep – a Cup Noodle! Just sounded good. I reviewed one that I ate much earlier and just got done reviewing three that I only had a bite of each. This sounds like something tasty.

There’s quite a few of these to review since the new design and flavors! Was surprised that my son (who by the way has his own blog at www.AndysLEGOStuff.com ) was up for trying some Lobster flavor noodles! I’ll steal a bite and a slurp and see how they are.

Haven’t tried this one before, although seen it a few times at the store. Udon is a wider gauge noodle and usually when mentioned so prominently is of the fresh variety. Fresh in a non-refrigerated? You’ll understand in a minute.

It’s funny how much my wife and I enjoy saying ‘HooRooRook!’ I wonder what it means though… Well, after some research, it came to my attention that it is the sound of slurping noodles.

This is a re-review – the last time I had this was probably in 2003 – when it was review #21. For some reason, I thought that it (Neoguri as well) had octopus in it. Clearly, that’s a squid holding chopstick and wearing clothing. I should note that these days, I know that’s a squid – and that squids don’t wear clothing. Moving on…

Here’s another of the Nongshim Shin Ramyun variants – shrimp flavor! This one was picked up for me by my sister in Canada. So far, I’ve been reviewing packs and cups from Korea and the United States by Nongshim. This one was made in China. I liked it a lot before – let’s have it again! Yay!

In the last week, I did a ‘Meet The Manufacturer on Indomie and have been enjoying Indonesian instant noodles. Today, I am going to try something completely different – donated by Ramen Place. It’s a Korean seafood big bowl – spicy stuff! This should be interesting as Indonesian noodles have been so different. Here we go!

What’s Cakalang? Indonesian Wikipedia says:
Skipjack (Katsuwonus Pelamis) is a medium-sized fish of the families Scombridae ( tuna ). The only species of the genus Katsuwonus. Largest tuna, body length can reach 1 m with a weight of more than 18 kg. A lot of tuna caught a length of about 50 cm. Other names include cakalan, cakang, movement, kambojo, karamojo, turingan, and some are called cobs . In the English language known as skipjack tuna.

So we start off Meet The Manufacturer: Indomie week with something new – most of the reviews I’ll be doing will come from a shipment of samples I received a few weeks back from Indonesia. Indofood sent them very kindly and I want to thank them again for their generosity. So here we go with something completely different! Read the interview I did with Indomie here!

Some Japanese stuff that’s been waiting for just the right day – and this is it. I may have not translated the title exactly right – a few things mentioned ‘thickening’ and ‘flour,’ so this may be thick seafood ramen. Anyways, shall we?
