Red Chef sent me a ton of instant noodles all the way from Malaysia last week! Thank you very much! With my recent bread obsession and all, this is really great for making new and exotic flavors. Red Chef Spicy Sakura Prawn Bread – Malaysia – #ramenbread
Thanks to a nice shipment from the folks at Red Chef in Malaysia (you’ll see the unboxing soon), some Spicy Sakura Prawn Soup Noodle came and that was what I was waiting for! I thought a prawn mee from Malaysia in a loaf of bread could be interesting – especially if I dump a ton of shrimp in with it! Did it work? Of course it did! Daebak Ghost Pepper Instant Noodle Bread
Today, I decided to make something spicy. Really spicy! I had a six pack of these Mamee Shinsegae Ghost Pepper Chicken cups sitting here – I’ve done the mukbang and the review – so why not… BREAD?! They have dark noodles and sauce sachets – this one was sure to burn – and it does. Let’s check it out!

I got an email last week about this stuff – saying it was the most popular on a Malaysian shopping site. I got a package a few short days later, which was yesterday. So, here I am trying it immediately. I’m stoked; I used to get Malaysian varieties all the time in the mail and it’s not as common anymore – let’s check it out!
#3926: Mamee Monster x Daebak Ghost Pepper Kari Lontong – Malaysia
Well, shoot… This is the last of the Mamee Ghost Pepper varieties I’ve got here. On one hand, I am breathing a sigh of relief – these have been spicy! But on the other, I do rather enjoy the whole concept of conquering a spicy noodle by eating the whole thing. Lontong is a kind of pressed rice tube/cake which in itself doesn’t have any flavor, but the sauce it comes with certainly does. I first encountered it with Mamee Chef’s Kari Lontong – a variety I thoroughly enjoy! Let’s give this one a try!
#3925: Mamee Monster x Daebak Ghost Pepper Mie Goreng Indonesia – Malaysia
Why am I doing this to myself today… Okay so let me start out by saying it’s been one heck of a week. A couple of days ago was the 1 year anniversary of my Mom passing, so in her honor I thought I’d walk south on the local interurban trail the farthest ever. Well, 16.5 miles of walking and it’s 2 days later and I’m pretty much crippled from it – my dogs aren’t barking, they’re run over. So that’s a bummer of course – I like to pull 10 miles a day minimum and don’t think I’m even doing any today as well as yesterday… So sure – let’s try the challenge of something ultra spicy and see what happens. Here we go!

It’s Top Ten time again! These are my favorite cups from my reviews up to #3790. Cups are a neat thing – very portable. They’ve come under fire for ‘tipping themselves over’ in the past, but I assure you they don’t have any intelligence that would be required for them to move of their own volition. It should be said also not to give these or any other super hot things to little ones. Common sense is a good thing. Anyways that aside, you can get some really tasty instant meals in a cup! As you can see from the sticker, this one was on my top ten 2020 list. I thought I’d better give it another try and see how it is and if I’m still into it as I was. I like to give another go with noodles that I’m thinking of putting on the next list from the previous year. Things can change – especially when it comes to Malaysian varieties – they love to change things up a little here and there with recipes! Let’s check it out!
#3840: MyKuali Penang Red Tom Yum Goong Noodle (New Formulation) – Malaysia
A very standard (and very wonderful) unique quality of Malaysian cuisine is the fact that tweaks and new recipes are an axiom. I found this out while in Penang, where changing styles of recipes goes on constantly and keeps flavors fresh and fascinating. This culture is present in their instant noodle brands as well – and it’s welcome! MyKuali’s Penang Red Tom Yum Noodle has been on previous Top Ten Lists and is absolutely excellent stuff. Very curious how this new formulation will be – let’s give it a try!

The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time 2021 Edition
After one very turbulent year, The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time is back. My mother died, we had an auto accident, the kids missed in-person schooling, and of course the pandemic. It’s been a really rough go but we’re back. Vaccines are rolling out everywhere and hopefully we can all get back together someday son. One thing I’ve found inspiration and enjoyment from during these times is a book I’d been hoping to find was sent to me by a noodle company exec called Momofuku Ando Speaks. It’s a book of quotes (kind of like the Ferengi Rules Of Acquisition if you’re a Star Trek fan) by the inventor of the instant noodle. I’ve been reading one on my show Instant Noodle Recipe Time every day – a lot of fun and a very interesting perspective. Little things like that have been really important as of late. Today, I’m proud to announce the show hits its 1000th episode!

Well hello, Malaysia! I was going through my stores of reviewables and found this one last week and though today was the perfect day to give it a try. Honestly the main reason being is that yesterday my daughter tried some yakisoba, so I thought maybe she would like to try this dry variety as well. I’m not sure if this will be as spicy as last time I tried it – it’s a new version.
