I found some info online about this one and had to use Google translation –

● Miso-tonkotsu ramen where you can feel the taste in the hotness, which is made by adding the spicy taste with the chili pepper and soya bean paste to the pork broth, and the richness with the miso and the flower bud.

● The soup is based on a hot pepper base with chili pepper and comes out with 2 kinds of rice miso and neri sesame seeds, and it has an exquisite and deep taste with the addition of the flavor of fish and the smell of florets.

● Excellent compatibility with soup and straight non-fried noodles.

● For hot taste, I blended several spices and seasonings, and I was particular about not only the hotness but also the quality of hotness.

-It is a tonkotsu ramen that is unbearable for those who really like hot things.

● Please note that this is a very hard ramen.

So this kind of sounds like it may be a mukbang – unsure at this point. But very cool either way! Let’s check it out!

The straight ramen noodles.

A dry powder sachet.

A wet sachet.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added narutomaki, chashu, spring onion, black sesame seeds, habanero togarashi, chili oil, and Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts. Was impressed by this one as it was very different. Noodles come out nicely – straight noodles are with a good mouthfeel and chew. The broth is very different insofar as it is quite spicy and it has this smoky pepper taste – kind of leaning in the direction of chipotle. It worked well and was fascinating to me. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.  JAN bar code 4901726014165.

#3302: 7-Eleven Premium / Nissin Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto – Japan

#3302: 7-Eleven Premium / Nissin Mouko Tanmen Nakamoto - Japan

I saw an article mentioning two new ‘super spicy’ noodle coup out of Japan. Well, I found one of them (actually I found both but this one was cheap on eBay while the other required buying six and that wasn’t happening). I keep seeing that this is a spicy Mongolian miso tanmen which sounded interesting.

Today’s an interesting day. If you don’t know, I’ve been doing a lot of diet and exercise stuff. I have a weird little project I’m about to complete. I have my wife’s old cellphone and it’s decent as far as a vidoeo camera. Today, my daughter and I will walk west to Lake Forest Park, hit ACE Hardware for a couple of big washers. We walked there a couple of days ago for some parts already, but I want bigger washers. I’m drilling a hole in one of the drink holders and then there’s a threaded length of screw that the phone in a clamp kind of thing will scren into and we’ll be able to do landscape videography of our walk – kind of treating the stroller like a dolly. All said and done our walk will probably be 12 miles, recording our trek from Lake Forest Park, through Kenmore, up a hill into Bothell, and wrapping around back to Kenmore and home. Pretty stoked!

Then After she’s had her lunch and is down for a nap, it’ll be time for cooking noodles. Then I’ll do a mukbang of this one. Let’s get started!

Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).

Loose bits and seasoning from the cup.

A wet sachet of spicy liquid.

Finished (click to enlarge). Nothing added as this was for a mukbang. This one has some of the thickest noodles I’ve ever seen in an instant cup, and they hydrated quite well. Broth is very rich and hearty with bits of kikurage, lots of tofu and other vegetable. As for the heat level, it’s very tame. The article I read mentioned it being super spicy, however the reviewer must be a little sensitive to heat. 4.25 out of 5.0 stars.  JAN bar code 4902105233634.

Here’s what they had to say about this particular variety – “We just can’t get enough of Hokkaido’s miso ramen. We’re excited to bring you a special box from Bihoro, Hokkaido. This is a small town of only 20,000 people but they create an excellent crab ramen due to its proximity to the ocean and special wheat used in their noodles which is grown in this region.”

This is a miso whoe broth is based with boiled crab shell – sounds interesting – let’s give it a try!

Here’s what they had to say about this particular variety – “Welcome to Hokkaido! No visit to Hokkaido is complete without a bowl of their famous miso ramen.

This month we have a unique combo pack. The first set is a famous miso ramen from Sapporo based Keyaki Ramen.

The Keyaki ramen is distinct due to its recipe combining three different types of Hokkaido miso with their secret broth recipe which includes smooth pork back fat, a concction of aromatic oils, flavorful vegetable paste, and finally a hint of ground dried sardine powder. This secret recipe not only creates a one of a kind rich and savory taste but also has made Keyaki ramen immensely popular up north in Japan and across the entire country.’

As they mention, it’s a combo pack and includes two packages of two differen varieties. Let’s take a closer look.

So when Yamachan contacted me about a gluten free ramen, I was interested. Really? How does that work? Well, only one way to find out! One thing is these are konyak noodles. Finished (click to enlarge). Added soft egg, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, black sesame seeds, and habanero togarashi. The noodles are indeed unique. The gauge definitely works for this style though; while they have a gummy kind of texture, it works with the broth. The miso broth is strong and tasty which I enjoyed. Couple that with a 136 calorie per reasonably sized serving size too. I was surprised how much I liked this. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.  UPC bar code 767921033608.

It also uses 2 typed of noodles which have different widths to reproduce the texture of chopped noodles of the ramen shop, Kurenai. There, you can choose the spiciness; Miso, Kurenai or Onikurenai. Kurenai is the middle spice level, so if you are not satisfied with tits spiciness, you should visit Kurenai in Tokyo to try Onikurenai.’

A lot of people enjoy visiting Trader Joe’s and trying their products. Actually, there aren’t many products if any that I think are actually ‘their’ products – they get companies who make a good product to do a ‘private label,’ often the same product or some with a couple tweaks and then packaged with Trader Joe’s graphics. I believe this one to be actually a cup of Mike’s Mighty Good Craft Ramen. Anyways, let’s check this new cup out!
