Here’s an interesting one from Japan found in a Zenpop box – check out zenpop.jp and use the coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount!

Here’s what they had to say – ‘We’ve got a Hall of Famer here! The name comes from a Sapporo-style ramen shop in Funabori, Tokyo. The restaurant partnered with Toyo Suisan to create this unique cup and make it possible for you to enjoy their product at home. The soup is a rich miso-flavored soup based on the umami of pork, with spices such as ginger and garlic, and is said to have been sprinkled with special oil. Inside, you’ll find yellow chijire noodles cut with a round blade, which are elastic and chewy. The dish is topped with seasoned minced meat, onions, menma, green onions, and the makers have been very generous!’

Interesting – I do fancy minced pork in ramen – let’s see what we end up with here.

Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains chicken and pork. To prepare, fill to line with boiling water and cover for 4 minutes. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.

Loose ingredients from the cup.

A sachet of liquid from the top of the cup.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added soft egg, chashu, shichimi, mung bean sprouts, sesame seed, and spring onion. Noodle was thicker than expected and pretty chewy. The broth however was a little on the lighter side. I’d hoped for something stronger. Also, the minced pork just didn’t work for me. Really wished it had. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.  JAN bar code 4901990370684.
