Here’s a variety which has been released for Nissin Cup Noodles’ 52nd anniversary – one that was a limited edition, but now a full part of the Nissin SG lineup. When I had it a while back, it was great – let’s give it another try – new and improved style!

In 2014, my wife and I got to visit Malaysia. From Seattle, it’s a long flight(s). 12am from Seattle to Taipei (12-14hrs), then a flight to Singapore, then a flight to Penang. After all the excitement and adrenaline, we were in a kind of lala land; it was almost hallucinogenic. First this is we went and had some local food, then I had a magazine interview on a hill – twisty road and I felt like I was going to pass out! Then we got to our hotel and had 20 minutes to freshen up. Then we went out to a dinner with about a dozen people we were meeting for the first time. This is where I tried fish head curry – a big pot of curry with a huge fish head in the middle staring at me. This was an interesting restaurant; a table over was a child’s birthday party. The plates they were using were kids’ plates which was neat. A lot of the food was on banana leabes with vibrant colors and contrasts. I look back on that and it’s kind of like a dream sequence in a film – like when they smear Crisco on the camera lens. The food was amazing, the company great, and the memories make me want to go back.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added fish ball, spring onion, and crushed red pepper. Noodle hydrated well – your standard Cup Noodle fare – thin and flat. The broth is full with a nice oiliness and great curry flavor. The amount of fish meat is quite elegant and add a lot. Honestly, I ate the whole bowl afterwards – just so good. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.
