Nishiyama Seimen of Sapporo, Japan sends Samples

I was recently in touch with a company called Nishiyama Seimen of Sapporo, Japan. They make a wide variety of fresh ramen and since I don’t get a lot of samples from Japan directly from companies, I thought I’d see if they wanted to do a Meet The Manufacturer review series – and they did! Check out what they sent and learn a little about the company! ...see full post

#3880: Han Ramen Noodle Soup – Russian Federation

#3880: Han Ramen Noodle Soup - Russian Federation

Found this one at Evergreen Asian Market up in Everett, Washington. I don’t often make my way that far north for instant noodles but I did find one or two things there (including Chocolatey Tree Stumps). This one is made in the Russian Federation for the US market – even says on the label which I find interesting. Anyways, let’s check this one out! ...see full post

#3879: Baixiang Artificial Chicken Soup Flavor Instant Noodle – China

#3879: Baixiang Artificial Chicken Soup Flavor Instant Noodle - China

I first found Baixiang products up in Richmond, BC a number of years ago. Good stuff – always like to try new ones they make. A reader mentioned this one – I’d seen it before, and I’d thought I’d bought the chicken one and the pork one, but instead I’d gotten two pork ones. Well, when asked if I’d tried it I decided to grab the chicken one. Only one pack this time though. Let’s check it out! ...see full post

#3875: Nongshim ChapaGuri Jjajang Noodles With Spicy Seafood Flavor – United States

#3875: Nongshim ChapaGuri Jjajang Noodles With Spicy Seafood Flavor - United States

Well look at this! I’ve seen something like this before…

#3875: Nongshim ChapaGuri Jjajang Noodles With Spicy Seafood Flavor - United States

I did a post way back in April of 2013, extolling the virtues of Chapaguri! No clue where I’d heard of it back then – maybe from Nongshim, IDK. I’d long forgotten about it and then I saw this and was like ‘hey – that’s the logo I made!’ It’s a pretty easy conclusion to do something like this from a design perspective and I think it looks nice. If they got the idea from me, I’m honored, but I’m guessing they had the idea of it when it was a popular item back then. Well, let’s see how it tastes! ...see full post

#3871: Panda Signature Ramen Noodle Soup Spicy Shrimp Flavor – United States

#3871: Panda Signature Ramen Noodle Soup Spicy Shrimp Flavor - United States

Thanks again to the guy in Montana for sending this a little while back. These days, the unboxing video’s comments have provided speculation, xenophobic diatribes, and some weird entertainment. Turns out these are the ramen at Walmart now and Walmart customers are seriously unhappy about it – it’s pretty hardcore if you ask me. Fascinating and entertaining nonetheless. Some of these varieties I’ve liked, some not. I actually saw them this weekend at a Walmart – they had these cups at 37 cents for a single, $1.78 for a six pack. That’s an extremely low price point for six meals. Let’s check this one out. ...see full post

BREAKING NEWS: THE RAMEN RATER IS OUT OF NOODLES

For almost 20 years, The Ramen Rater (www.theramenrater.com) has been reviewing instant noodles from around the globe. Unfortunately, that has come to an abrupt standstill. I’ve run out of instant noodles to review. Local stores have nothing new for me. So today, I’m asking if some of you would be kind enough to send me some varieties you may have locally that I’ve not reviewed. I will add your name to reviews (I can leave it anonymous, should you choose). ...see full post

#3863: Sanyang Yishi Classic Guilin Rice Noodle – China

#3863: Sanyang Yishi Classic Guilin Rice Noodle - China

This one has an interesting preparation method and I’m honestly really excited to try it. I’ve seen many varieties that kind of look like this. My wife Kit was awesome – while our car has been down for the count, she went out shopping and checked whether I’d tried varieties and got me this one to try! She’s the best – let’s check it out! ...see full post

#3862: Nissin Cup Noodles Teriyaki Chicken – Germany

#3862: Nissin Cup Noodles Teriyaki Chicken - Germany

Well this one was sent by the nice folks in Germany for review! Sounds like a nice variety too. It’s nice when something smells good – I get these reviews ready while the kids eat their dinner in the evening right before they go to bed and then we have our dinner. The actual review will happen tomorrow after the kids have their lunch. Everything revolves around our children in our house, just as it probably goes in everyone else’s house. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Let’s give this one a try! ...see full post

#3861: Wai Wai Quick Chicken Pizza Flavored Instant Noodle – Serbia

#3785: Wai Wai Quick Chicken Pizza Flavored Instant Noodle - Serbia

A long time ago, I went to JD’s Market in Lynnwood, WA. I found a few neat things, including pizza instant noodles from Pakistan! Well, I just realized years later on a recent trip (like a few weeks ago), I picked up a pack whose flavor is chicken pizza! It’s a wellspring of unique pizza flavor in the instant noodle way. Let’s give it a try! ...see full post

#3860: Baijia Mian-Yang Rice Noodle Artificial Beef Flavor – China

#3860: Baijia Mian-Yang Rice Noodle Artificial Beef Flavor - China

I don’t I’ve mentioned lately how absolutely wonderful my wife is. I should just do a standalone post every week saying that and extolling the reasons why, but here’s one thing she did that was absolutely wonderful. We had a car accident in mid January (as I write this it’s early March) and we’ve had a loaner as it gets fixed. Yeah – early March. Since mid January, I haven’t been in a car. We’ve got two kids, two car seats, and one just won’t get in there right and so someone has to stay at home and since I don’t drive, that’s me. Well, the local grocery store I walk to had some sad mung bean sprouts and it’s Sunday – a week without mung bean sprouts is a sad ordeal for me. She drove to the 99 Rach Market out of town, got my veggies and then proceeded to send me individual photos of different instant noodles in hopes of finding some I’ve not reviewed. I’m super low on varieties I’ve not tried which is serious no bueno. She did find a few though and this is one of them. So I say thank you to my kind and wonderful wife. Let’s have a look at this rice noodle variety! ...see full post

The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2022 Edition

The Ramen Rater's Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2022 Edition

It’s Top Ten time again! These are my favorite cups from my reviews up to #3790. Cups are a neat thing – very portable. They’ve come under fire for ‘tipping themselves over’ in the past, but I assure you they don’t have any intelligence that would be required for them to move of their own volition. It should be said also not to give these or any other super hot things to little ones. Common sense is a good thing. Anyways that aside, you can get some really tasty instant meals in a cup! Let’s check out The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2022 Edition, and don’t forget to have a look at the big announcements at the bottom! ...see full post

As it’s the weekend of the Fourth Of July, I thought what better time to repost last year’s Top Ten American varieties list. Hope everyone has a good weekend! By the way – from July to the end of the year, lists get the following year’s date on them, so this list came out in 2020. A little confusing, I know… Check the bottom of this post for some special announcements including a series of instructional videos geared to help you elevate your ramen cooking! Happy Fourth Of July to all! ...see full post

#3857: Super God Co. Ltd. God Noodles Sichuan Spicy & Scallion Flavor – Taiwan

#3857: Super God Co. Ltd. God Noodles Sichuan Spicy & Scallion Flavor - Taiwan

I got a phonecall the other day from a guy in Georgia. He said a family member in Taiwan had come up with a new noodle variety and that they were interested in me trying it. Well, a week later it arrived at my door en masse! I decided it would be great to give it a try and so here we are. Let’s give it a go! ...see full post

#3854: Wai Wai Instant Noodles Vegetable Flavored – Serbia

#3854: Wai Wai Instant Noodles Vegetable Flavored - Serbia

What a weird day it’s been – let alone week. So a friend had a Facebook group that went from 200 members  up to 39,000 in 5 months. He didn’t have the time to administer the group and asked if I wanted it. Nobody’s ever handed me 39,000 people to govern before. So I said yes. The group keeps growing, and today it hit 50,000 members! That’s a decent sized city! He offered Thursday and this is Monday. I wonder if it will keep growing… I guess we’ll see! If you want to join, it’s here. ...see full post

#3853: Panda Signature Ramen Noodle Soup Pork Flavor – United States

#3853: Panda Signature Ramen Noodle Soup Pork Flavor - United States

I’ve been slowly getting through all the varieties sent by a reader from Montana – thank you! These have replaced a competitor’s varieties at Walmart. When I did the unboxing video I didn’t expect the feedback I got in the comments – people are very unhappy about the change. I will say that the change is a big one, however if you really enjoy the other brand, it is still available in stores other than Walmart, so there is that. I did hear some positive things about this pork variety. It should be noted that the Malaysian HALAL stamp doesn’t appear on this one – for obvious reasons. But I still suspect this variety is produced in Malaysia. Let’s check it out. ...see full post

#3851: MyKuali White Fish Broth Noodle – Malaysia

#3851: MyKuali White Fish Broth Noodle - Malaysia

As you can see from the sticker, this one was on my top ten 2020 list. I thought I’d better give it another try and see how it is and if I’m still into it as I was. I like to give another go with noodles that I’m thinking of putting on the next list from the previous year. Things can change – especially when it comes to Malaysian varieties – they love to change things up a little here and there with recipes! Let’s check it out! ...see full post
