If you didn’t know, the Tapatio hot sauce folks have their own ramen varieties – in pack, cups, and bowls. These are the current varieties in pack form that they sent and I’m really interested in reviewing them! Big thanks to Tapatio Ramen for sending them along – let’s check ’em out.
I’m still pretty surprised at how much I liked the Tapatio Birria version – I figured I’d try this one, the last they sent (thank you very much!). I’ve got shrimp, so I’m hoping to do this up nice. Let’s give it a go!

Tapatio hot sauce is really popular and I see their cups and bowls a lot at the local stores. Well, there are three new varieties that will be gracing store shelves now – check them out!
Very curious about this one. So here’s a little background on birria –
Birria (Spanish: [ˈbirja] (
listen)) is a Mexican dish from the state of Jalisco. It is a traditional soup or stew made from a combination of chili pepper-based goat meat adobo, garlic, cumin, bay leaves, and thyme, and cooked at a low heat. Birria is slow-stewed in a pot (olla), and differs from barbacoa, which is cooked underground. Beef, lamb, sheep, chicken, or vegan meat substitutes are alternatives for goat. It may be seasoned and garnished with onion, cilantro, and lime. It is commonly accompanied with handmade corn tortillas.[1] Birria is one of the most famous dishes from Central Mexico including Jalisco and Michoacan. Each municipality and state is said to have its own version of this dish. The most famous are goat birria from Apatzingan, Michoacan and from Guadalajara, Jalisco San Pedro Tlaquepaque, are also well known for the quality of their birria.[2]

I’ve reviewed the bowls, now here come the cups! This is a shrimp variety and should be a good one – let’s find out!
I saw these Tapatio cups at the local Safeway supermarket and inquired with UEC about whether I could get some samples – they arrived a couple of days later. I’ve reviewed the bowl versions, so figured I ought to try the cups too. Perhaps pack versions aren’t far behind? Let’s give this Original flavor a try.
