Three Varieties From Israel

With the recent event unfolding in Israel, I thought I’d repost the three reviews I have of products for sale there. There’s a story with them about my family – I found out I have a brother a couple of years ago. May he and his family be safe and peace come soon for all.

#3414: טָעִים (Taim) Thai Noodles Beef Flavored - Israel

Today, tomorrow, and the next day, I’m going to be reviewing three varieties brought to me from Israel by my brother Moshe. I didn’t know I had a brother until I took an Ancestry DNA kit my wife got for me (I was kind of hoping I might be 1% Asian descent, but that was most certainly not the case). Well, I got to see him for the second time in person yesterday, and this visit, our mother came and visited with him as well – something we never had expected. He was adopted in 1955 and my sister and I didn’t know anything about it – so this is a big deal for us!

My brother has poor eyesight as well – he’s on the lower left with his guide dog Rocky, then going counter clockwise, our mother, Miles, Kit, Mimi, our sister Sue, me, and Moshe’s son (my nephew) Israel. A very happy family! Let’s cook up some noodles!

Well, would you look at that! So this is definitely by the same company in China that makes Rooster brand noodles for Loblaw’s up in Canada.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, sesame seed, Sichuan peppe powder, and beef strips sauteed in soy sauce. The noodles are light and this with a bit of a crumble. The broth’s flavor is pretty good – a salty beef affair with sporadically occurring vegetables, which hydrated adequately. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 7290010176229.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, enokitake, soft egg, , spring onion, and Sichuan pepper powder. The noodles as with the last variety are identical with a light chew, thin gauge and slight crumble. The flavor of the broth has shiitake notes and just didn’t marry to the noodle as well. They didn’t even argue. 2.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 7290010176243.

#3416: טָעִים (Taim) Thai Noodles Chicken Flavored - Israel

Today’s the third and last say I’ll be reviewing three varieties brought to me from Israel by my brother Moshe. Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, baked chicken, spring onion, and chili flake. This is what I expected from this private labale variety from China at the outset. A thin noodle with a soft tooth and slight crumble as the others, but the broth in this one is the winner of the trio. It has a nice chicken flavor which isn’t overly salty and a definite comfort food umami to it. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 7290010176212.
