#1419: Vifon Ngon-Ngon Mi Tom Yum Thịt Băm Tom Yum Minced Pork Noodle

Here’s one with an interesting name. ‘Ngon-ngon?’ What could that mean? So I plugged ‘ngon-ngon’ into Google translate and it came up with ‘delicious’. I thought it interesting that only one ‘ngon’ came up with ‘tasty.’ I thought then, well hey – what about a trifecta of ‘ngon?’ Well, ‘ngon ngon ngon’ comes up with ‘delicious delicious.’ Anyways, it sounds like these Vifon minced pork tom yum noodles should be delicious. I hope they are! Let’s have a look. ...see full post

#1410: Adabi Mi Segera Tom Yam Instant Noodles

Here’s another one sent to me by Annie T. of MyKuali awhile back – thanks! Today I took a walk in my new neighborhood to HMart. HMart is a big Asian supermarket chain. What’s awesome is they have a little endcap in the frozen foods section devoted to fishballs, little crab claws and seafood flavor tofu pieces! I thought maybe I’d get some and try it with this tom yam. Let’s check it out! ...see full post

#1331: Indomie Taste Of Asia Mi Kuah Rasa Tom Yum Ala Thailand

I’ve been asked about this special series from Indomie for a long time and finally got my hands on some! Indomie’s Taste Of Asia line has three components: Laksa representing Singapore, Bulgogi representing South Korea, and finally Tom Yum to represent Thailand. I thought since I embark on a new Meet The Manufacturer tomorrow, I’d try something a little different. So Tom Yum is a Thai soup, usually with very strong spiciness and citrus flavors. I’m very curious as to how they’ll do this one. Let’s check it out! ...see full post

#1306: KOKA Oriental Style Instant Noodles Tom Yam Flavour

Here’s one that was sent by Martin A. of Devon, England. Thanks again! I’ve really been into fish balls lately. They’re tasty, lots of varieties, and pretty low cal. Anyways, they tend to go better in spicy varieties of instant noodles and I think they are wonderful in tom yum/yam. Let’s check this one out! ...see full post

Re-Review: MAMA Shrimp Creamy Tom Yum Flavour Oriental Style Instant Noodles

Went to 99 Ranch Market yesterday and picked these up. I reviewed them way back – #136 – over two years ago. I gave them 2.0 out of 5.0 stars. Many of your have commented on how much you enjoy it and so I think I’ll give it another chance. I’ve found varieties from back then are more to my liking now. ...see full post

#689: Namchow Mee Jang Noodle Soup Sour Spicy Shrimp (Tom Yum)

Here’s the first review I’m doing with my new camera! No more Blackberry 8900 camera – now I’ll be using a Sony Cybershot 14.1MP! Should look better now, hopefully! Today I decided to dig out this bowl – it’s one my wife got for me for my birthday at Uwajimaya. Let’s give it a looksie! ...see full post

#172: MAMA Oriental Style Instant Flat Noodles (Tom Yam)

So I asked Kit to pick out two packs of noodles for me to try next. Here’s the first one. I’m curious whether it’ll be any good; the MAMA brand has reviews on here from 1 to 4 stars so we’ll just have to see. By the way, on the back in two places it says tom yum instead of tom yam like it does on the front. I’m going to go with tom yum being correct and the yam being a typo. ...see full post

#106: GreeNoodle Tom Yum Flavor

So today here’s review #98 – the weird GreeNoodle… These noodles contain some kind of weird ingredient called moroheiya. “Moroheiya is a super vegetable that is more nutritious than spinach, carrots, or borccoli in most aspects” is written on the back and cite as a quote by the ‘Japanese Ministry.’ although which Ministry that would be is unclear to me. ...see full post

#29: Namchow Mee-Jang Tom Yum Shrimp Bowl

Namchow: Tom Yum Shrimp Bowl Stars: *** 1/2
Notes: Just polished it off a minute ago. Not extremely complicated but a very satisfying bowl.
Upon opening the packaging, the consumer is greeted by two small but very clear pouches
of which one contains a mix of chili oil/seasoning oil, and the other a base with
dehydrated meat ad vegetables. After leaving it to steep with some boiling water, the
end product is a bowl full of bright red broth and some really greasy noodles. Wasn’t a
really hot bowl; on the contrary, it was very citrussy flavored. But very very greasy. I
can’t begin to describe how greasy it is! A worthy bowl of noodles on it’s own. ...see full post
