Here’s another one of the big JML bowls sent by Michelle L. of Tarrytown, New York. Mushroom chicken eh? Alright, let’s give this a try.
Here’s something really new and very different from a lot of the instant noodles I’ve reviewed before. Jinjja Jinjja translates to “Really Really” (Spicy Spicy) – and I suppose in this review we’re going to find out how really really spicy Jinjja is! I should say that I sampled this one at Nongshim America while I was down there, so I have tried it before – but not a while bowl of it. I found out that the flavor comes from boiling pork bones for a long time, black beans and peanuts! It also turns out that the wheat flour used to make these has some red pepper powder added to them – heat in the noodle as well as from the dry seasonings! Let’s give this a try!
I got two shipments today – one from Nongshim America, which I visited last week (there’ll be a lot of stuff all about the visit, the plant tour and the people very soon!). Here’s the first one from Nongshim America!
I was digging in the bottom of the noodle hamper and pulled this one out – pretty old and needs ingested ASAP! It’s one my sister picked up for me in Canada last year. Very small pack too! Let’s give it a try.
Here’s one my sis got me in the Vancouver, BC area. Tom Yum’s usually something I like – let’s see!
Here’s another one sent to me by Carter B. of Lancaster PA! This is another one he got in Mali (a country in west Africa), and this brand hails from Dubai! Let’s check it out!
Well, we’re back from outr trip to Nongshim USA! It was absolutely amazing! The people were so nice, seeing how noodles were made amazing, and the new flavors I tasted were great! I’ll be posting a bit about the trip very soon! For now, I’d like to thank Ray Adams for introducing my wife and I to the world of Nongshim USA! His boss Ray Kim made us feel very welcome and it was so much fun talking with them and everyone else there about noodles and the Nongshim culture. We are so lucky to have been afforded this opportunity and really appreciated it! Can’t wait to do Meet The Manufacturer: Nongshim week! Until then, I’ll be posting a bit of info about the tour and what happened while I was there. Keep your eyes peeled!

Tomorrow, my wife and I are headed to the airport to fly down to the Nongshim USA plant in Rancho Cucamonga, California! There, we’re going to do a plant tour, a noodle tasting, and a videotaped interview for the next Meet The Manufacturer, which (you guessed it) will feature Nongshim. We’ll return on Saturday with stories and pictures – I might do a post while we’re down there from my phone possibly. I want to say thank you to the wonderful folks at Nongshim USA for this opportunity to learn more about their company and instant noodles! We’re really looking forward to this! Next stop, southern California.
Here’s a good one – this is the Indnesian local version of the first Indomie I ever tried – Satay. Curious if it’s any different.
Here’s another Mi Goreng – this is the same as the Indomie Mi Goreng BBQ Chicken Jumbo we have here but it’s the one I was shipped by Indofood from Jakarta, Indonesia. I thought something that was interesting though was that ours is called BBQ chicken and the one in Indonesia translates to roast chicken. Anyways, let’s eat!
Some of you might be saying ‘hey it’s Thursday; didn’t Meet The Manufacturer week start on Wednesday last week?’ Well, yeah but I skipped two days of reviewing so gotta make those up – only fair. So here we have Soto Betawi. Wikipedia has this to say about it:

This is the stuff of legend – probably Indomie’s most well-known product and extremely popular the world over. Mi Goreng means fried noodles. This is awesome stuff! I’m going to have it with egg, beef, veggies AND cheese . Here’s a part of the interview I did with Indomie:
Today I continue reviews for Meet The Manufacturer: Indomie week! This is another one, sent to me from Jakarta, Indonesia by Indomie – thanks again! So what does Empal Gentong consist of? What does it mean? Here’s what I found on Wikipedia:
What’s Cakalang? Indonesian Wikipedia says:
Skipjack (Katsuwonus Pelamis) is a medium-sized fish of the families Scombridae ( tuna ). The only species of the genus Katsuwonus. Largest tuna, body length can reach 1 m with a weight of more than 18 kg. A lot of tuna caught a length of about 50 cm. Other names include cakalan, cakang, movement, kambojo, karamojo, turingan, and some are called cobs . In the English language known as skipjack tuna.

Hey – haven’t I reviewed this before? Nope! This is the regular sized package – Michael C. from Eastland Foods sent me this one – thanks! Like I’ve always said, I try to review everything I can get my hands on – this is the regular sized package and not the Jumbo package that’s in the Top Ten list. Some might find this a little silly, but not I! Besides; I love eating this stuff. So with that, let’s try out the non-Jumbo version of Indomie’s Mi Goreng BBQ Chicken!
I couldn’t wait for Meet The Manufacturer: Indomie week to try this. It’s a nice day here in the low 70’s and this said ‘eat me,’ so I will. This was one of the ones sent to me by Susienta S. of Indofoods CBR in Jakarta, Indonesia! Thanks again – and let’s give this one a try! This package showed up at my door on Saturday – what could be inside? Noodles! From Edwin N. of Vancouver, BC! Edwin runs a blog and I noticed he had some interesting Indomie varieties I’d never seen.

I remember reviewing this one a while back up in Anacortes – got it and was really stoked as I’d never seen it before!
This is one of the samples sent by Empire International – thanks again to them and Jim C.! Many years ago, I tried this stuff. This was the first Indomie product I’d ever tried! I used to get tons of this stuff – my folks would bring it back to Anacortes from Seattle , a bit of a journey for noodles! All the packets, the draining, the eggs… This is where it all begand for me.

Yep – another re-review! But this one’s very special – i haven’t had this in a few years and I hope after reading and seeing, this stuff you’ll be ready and even dying to try it. This, my friend, is one of the finest instant noodle varieties I’ve ever had. Thanks to Jim C. for contacting Empire International, distributor of these and sending samples!
