Here’s one I found at the local grocery store. The shoyu I tried previously wasn’t bad, so hopefully the miso will be good and not a boatload of red miso. Warning – there will be corn in this. If you’re not afraid of corn, smooth seas ahead. But if corn freaks out your tender sensibilities, turn back!

So this is an interesting one today. Yamasa sent me some ramen broths and I found this simple block of instant noodles from Jongga to pair it with. Both products are either made in the United States or just for the US market. Time to make some miso ramen!

I rarely find anything to get at Uwajimaya these days – not because they don’t have a decent variety, but because I’ve tried them all. This was a nice one to find though – kind of pricy at that though. Curious… Let’s check it out!

Here’s the third of three new single pack offerings from Hakubaku. Miso is a style of broth is either love or hate. I have a feeling this one isn’t going to fall into the latter category. I’ve been trying a lot of instants for a long time and really hoping this one fits the ‘approval’ bill. Let’s find out!

First things first – thanks to James of Lakeside, CA for sending this one! Alright, so no, this is not produced in the United States, but it’s definitely produced for the United States. It sounds interesting, honestly – miso rice noodles. I don’t know that I’ve seen miso rice noodles before however I could be wrong. Let’s see what we have.

I’ve tried the Shoyu and Tonkotsu from these folks and I can honestly say it’s among the best I’ve had. From the noodle quality to the broth, they definitely cover all the bases. Now they’ve got single packs of it for sale! Check it out here!

Here’s what they had to say about this one – ‘This ramen has a soup base made with red and white miso combined, and with pork bone broth and added ginger it gives a deep flavor to the miso taste. Included is a packet of special flavor oil called ‘Drop Of Rich Deliciousness’ that adds sweetness and rich flavor. Add as much or as little as you like. The toppings include a combination of diced meat, cabbage, corn, and cut leek that matched perfectly with the rich miso taste.’

I found some info online about this one and had to use Google translation –
● Miso-tonkotsu ramen where you can feel the taste in the hotness, which is made by adding the spicy taste with the chili pepper and soya bean paste to the pork broth, and the richness with the miso and the flower bud. ● The soup is based on a hot pepper base with chili pepper and comes out with 2 kinds of rice miso and neri sesame seeds, and it has an exquisite and deep taste with the addition of the flavor of fish and the smell of florets. ● Excellent compatibility with soup and straight non-fried noodles. ● For hot taste, I blended several spices and seasonings, and I was particular about not only the hotness but also the quality of hotness. -It is a tonkotsu ramen that is unbearable for those who really like hot things. ● Please note that this is a very hard ramen.

I saw an article mentioning two new ‘super spicy’ noodle coup out of Japan. Well, I found one of them (actually I found both but this one was cheap on eBay while the other required buying six and that wasn’t happening). I keep seeing that this is a spicy Mongolian miso tanmen which sounded interesting.

Here’s what they had to say about this one – ‘This yakisoba just debuted from Myojo as their first umakara miso flavor. Umakara is a word mixture of umai (delicious) and karai (spicy). Kogashi ninniku means roasted garlic, so this yakisoba offers you irresistible tastes of kogashi ninniku with umakara miso flavor to fill your appetite! The kara miso paste (orange packet) add it as you like, you can maybe start adding little by little to see your preference of spiciness.”

So when Yamachan contacted me about a gluten free ramen, I was interested. Really? How does that work? Well, only one way to find out! One thing is these are konyak noodles. I’ve had thick gauge konyak and really disliked it. I have to admit though seeing the gauge of these I’ve got hope. Let’s check it out!

Here’s what they had to say about this one – ‘This mixes two kinds of miso – red miso and white miso – to make the soup savory. It also uses 2 typed of noodles which have different widths to reproduce the texture of chopped noodles of the ramen shop, Kurenai. There, you can choose the spiciness; Miso, Kurenai or Onikurenai. Kurenai is the middle spice level, so if you are not satisfied with tits spiciness, you should visit Kurenai in Tokyo to try Onikurenai.’

A lot of people enjoy visiting Trader Joe’s and trying their products. Actually, there aren’t many products if any that I think are actually ‘their’ products – they get companies who make a good product to do a ‘private label,’ often the same product or some with a couple tweaks and then packaged with Trader Joe’s graphics. I believe this one to be actually a cup of Mike’s Mighty Good Craft Ramen. Anyways, let’s check this new cup out!
