In Malaysia, I don’t think it gets as cold as it is here. Not sure they’ve ever gotten snow there. I think it would be nice to be there right now. It’s cold.

Hey look – something totally new and different from MyKuali! They told me that fish noodle is a hawker stall staple over in Penang. Very curious about this one, as this isn’t supposed to be spicy which is a departure from all their other varieties which do have a strong spiciness. Let’s give it a go!

Despite all the tumultuous and unnerving events of our current age,, I am happy to announce that I’ve got a new list for our year, 2020. In the past fe hundred reviews I’ve done this past year there have been some real standouts and of course many have remained. These are my absolute favorites of reviews 1 through 3487. It’s hard – I feel like I should be doing a top 20, or even a top 50 at this point, but the sheer amount of time that would take with being a stay at home father of two while trying to get in a few hours of exercise every day just isn’t in the cards. I’m hoping in the coming months to come out with the regular top tens and maybe some new ones, but it’s a tough juggle these days.

A new recipe for 2019 – they change recipes a lot at MyKuali. It’s definitely a Malaysian thing, that’s for sure. I like that though – definitely neat to see companies tweak recipes every so often and see what they come up with. Let’s give this one a try – I’m guess it’s going to be strng with a sweet prawn flavor.

This is a brand new variety from Malsyai’s MyKuali. This company’s had three different varieties in the past end up on my global top ten rankings and after trying the vermicelli and cup versions, here we have the pack (you’ll see the other two in upcoming reviews. Let’s give it a try!

I gotta say, there have been a TON of new recipes for this instant noodle. I don’t know how many brands are changing recipes out there, but it’s nice to know when they do. This is something they do in Malaysia, specifically Penang, Malaysia, an awful lot. The folks at MyKuali told me how you might go to a hawker stall one day and have something really great and a week later it’s almost unrecognizable in hopes of having the next super popular food item. Food creators there never seem satisfied with ‘good enough.’ Let’s see what this iteration of the legendary MyKuali Penang White Curry Noodle has to offer.

Simply looking at this bowl evokes memories of travel for me so happy… Penang is such a place of wonder and fascination. The sights, scents and sounds crescendo in a vibrant, harmonic din that haunts my soul in such a way that not a day goes by without a sigh of returning. As the mighty salmon is compelled to return whence it came, so I must return to old Penang someday to experience its charm.

If you didn’t know, Mamee Monster is a snack noodle. It’s all over – you should have known by now. You smash the bag, open it up and eat it. Yes, really. This is popular and common is Southeast Asia. Yup! Let’s take a look.

When I tried this previously, I was totally stoked. Often you can find prawn noodle in Penang that has both vermicelli and wheat noodles present. Well, you get that here. Not only that, this one while insanely good prior to this review now has a new recipe. Very curious how it is – let’s find out!

This is always something that really humbles me. I review instant noodles, and getting new varieties is always a good thing, albeit difficult oft times. Well, this is a definitely new variety. The former version has been on my The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time list – now I’m curious… Isn’t that good enough? Apparently not! Let’s see what’s different!

My posts for the most part come out about 100 days since I wrote them. A lot happens in those 100 days, personally and globally. About 60 days ago I found out I’d lost 65 pounds when I visited the doctor – 2 days ago I found out I’ve lost 30 more. Last night was the second night of the Democrat primary debates. Kamala Harris did incredibly well and we now have a new race.When this posting, I’m sure a few candidates have dropped off and declared their support for others. I like politics – it’s fun and matters.

MyKuali has been on the top ten many times – today I unbox something new!

Usually, this is a summer list, coming out late July or early August. No more. Why? A couple of reasons – first, I’ve been busy. The whole diet and exercise thing has kind of taken over my life – which is good and a pain at the same time. I do a LOT of walking – often 15 miles in a day. This takes a lot of time and so there’s that. The other reason is that I’ve heard many ask why this list doesn’t come later in the year when it’s colder.

I haven’t done a mee goreng variety in some time – at least it seems like it. This one sounds really good – I love curry and mee goreng as well so this should be good. Found this one in a shop at Lansdowne Centre up in Richmond, BC. Let’s get started!

I’m truly stoked on this one – another one found again at that Smart N Save up in Richmond, BC Canada. This is one I decided not to get last time I was in Taiwan that I saw at Carrefour because, well, it was such a big package and I had limited space. What’s great is that they’ve got quite a few varieties up there so I’ll be trying more – and they’re cheap!

Here’s one of the new ones from MyKuali. I’ve enjoyed MyKuali’s stuff for years, with multiple appearances on the top tens. Here’s a new flavor – gaeng som – and a little something from Wikipedia to explain –

Hey look at this! What is it? Well, their standard Spicy Sakura Prawn has been ranked #2 on the 2018 and 2019 The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time lists. This one has two kinds of noodles – both air dried too so they’re healthier for you. I’m a big fan of prawn mee (that’s what they call it in Malaysia) and I’m ready to have a prawn freakout. Let do this!

I’m starting to feel like with the sheer amount of products I’m finding lately that a list for vegetarian people might not be too far off. But we’ll see. A lot of companies (including MyKuali as you can see here) are getting on board with catering to the Vegetarian folks. Let’s see what the differences are going to be with this one.

Well look here something brand new from MyKuali! I think the last new thing they introduced was their fried noodle – their mee goreng. This one though – I’ve never heard of this before. Let’s look at Wikipedia and see what we can find –

So yesterday was my birthday, and one of the best I’ve had yet. This one was a little different; usually I’m all about going out somewhere to eat or partying up. I had a couple goals for my birthday. One was to do a mukbang of this one and publish it yesterday – which I was able to do.

I was contacted by a guy at Mamee in Malaysia about a new ultra spicy variety . I was game. He sent them. They arrived the day before my birthday and Miles and I cracked them open! Let’s check ’em out!

This was one in a box sent by Mohd from Selangor, Malaysia – thank you again! So I was trying to figure out how to translate this one. Basically, Pedas Giler is ‘crazy spicy.’ I’m all in on this one- after reviewing the Ayam Bakar version, people said this one was even spicier. Let’s check it out!

One thing’s for sure – when I visited Penang, Malaysia in 2014, I tried a lot of prawn mee. A lot. I think upwards of 5 different bowls from different hawkers and restaurants. It’s serious business, folks! Strong prawn flavors, a sweetness, just plain amazing stuff that’s delicious and addictive. When it comes to prawn mee, I’m very interested. Let’s delve into this new one from Malaysia and see what makes it tick.
