Ask The Manufacturer: Tat Hui/KOKA
I have been able to get the opportunity to do an interview with Singapore’s Tat Hui Corporation, makers of KOKA noodles! I have compiled a list of questions to ask and now would like YOU to round out the list – what would you ask them? This will be open until Monday, 2/13/2012. At the end, I will list the questions picked to send them! Make sure you include your first name and last initial and where you are from in the response! Good luck!
Superbowl 2012 Food: Spicy Ramen Nachos
Click image to enlarge. Yes it’s true. It’s the Tat Hui Koka Tomato flavor ramen with guacamole and sour cream and Texas Pete hot sauce. Eat this and your team will win.
#608: Koka Instant Non-Fried Noodles Spicy Black Pepper Flavour
Hadn’t tried it before and at under $3.00 for the four pack, how could I resist?
Here’s the front of a single pack. I have had many of the other varieties of Koka before, but spicy black pepper just sounds so good!
#510: Snapdragon Pan-Asian Cuisine Korean Kimchi Rice Noodle Soup
Here’s the second of four of these I got at the new Bellevue Uwajimaya last month.
Two packets – yup again it looks like the Koka seasoning packet! The seasoning has a powder compartment as well as an oil compartment. the green packet is veggies.
#494: Snapdragon Pan Asian Cuisine Tomato Seafood Rice Noodle Soup
I got a few of these not too long ago and so here’s the first of them. The top is a clear cover.
#469: Gefen Oriental Style Ramen Noodles Chicken Flavor
Here’s another one sent to me by Michael M. from Staten Island, NY – thanks again, man! As I mentioned before, he found a few of them on the kosher aisle of a grocery store and sent them my direction. The last review I did was imitation chicken flavor. This one’s chicken flavor. I looked at the ingredients and don’t see any chicken… Hmm… Well, let’s try it out.
#459: Gefen Oriental Style Ramen Noodles Imitation Chicken Flavor
So here’s one I got from Ramen Rater contributor Michael M. from Staten Island, NY. He said he found some of these down the aisle with kosher foods at his grocery store. Well, let’s give it a try!
#427: Koka Mi Hai Cua 2 Crab Flavour Oriental Style Instant Noodles
Look at the angry little crabs! They’re saying ‘eat the noodle soup!’ I’m agreeing with them and thusly, I portend to make said soup and have it for breakfast.
#365: Nissin Cup Noodles Prawn Flavour
So here’s another one my sister brought me back from Canada! Definitely a flavor you can’t find here in the states.
Re-Review: Tat Hui Koka Mi Hai Tom 2 Prawn Flavour Oriental Style Instant Noodles
So I reviewed this one a really long time ago and thought it really needed to be brought out again. I don’t even remember what score I gave it, but it’s being prepared no doubt a little different this time and so we shall see how it fares. I remember liking it a great deal.
#248: Tat Hui Koka Tomato Flavor Instant Non-Fried Noodles
Tomato ramen. There it is. Is it gong to taste tomato-like?
The veggies and the powder…
#237: Tat Hui Koka Instant Rice Noodles Spicy Seafood Marinara
More Koka! So spicy seafood marinara time!
I like how the little scrawl at the base of the garnishes pack implies that the garnishes may be different from time to time. Mysterious…
#236: Tat Hui Koka Instant Non-Fried Noodles Spicy Sesame Flavor
Sesame’s good, spicy is good. Let’s see if this stuff that was uber cheap – $1.49 for 4 packages – is worth its weight.
#235: Tat Hui Koka Instant Non-Fried Noodles Curry Flavor
Wow check it out! This was a super deal – 4 packs of it for $1.49! Here we go!
Okay sure seasoning powder and garnish yeah yeah…
#233: Tat Hui Koka Instant Rice Noodles Tom Yum Flavor
So some new stuff. I like Tom Yum flavor noodle soup usually so hpoing this should be nice. I really liked the last Koka bowl noodle I had recently – it had a packet of coconut powder in it – weird!
#223: Tat Hui Koka Instant Rice Noodles Laksa Singapura Flavor
So here’s something I haven’t seen before and it looks like there’s a handful of varieties available locally.
#32 & #33: Koka Mi Hai Cua Crab Flavor and Prawn Flavor
Mi Hai: Crab Flavor and Prawn Flavor Stars: *** 1/2
Notes: This is some really decent stuff – not a whole lot to it, but definitely tastes like crab and prawn.
The noodles are better than expected too. One note though, it does tend to give me extremely bad
heartburn. I don’t like that.
