For the longest time, I only thought there was a single variety of Nongshim’s Tonkotsu bowl – the spicy one. Lo and behold, there’s this one with black garlic oil as well. What’s more, I think both exist concurrently. The spicy one has a five star rating from me and is at the top of the USA top ten. Let’s check this new one out!

This is the third variety of Noodie Vegan ramen I have here to try and I’m really stoked! The first I tried was their Peanut Chili which was absolutely fantastic stuff – just loved it. The second was the Smoky Garlic, and sadly, I really disliked that one. But now we have a Vegan Tonkotsu and I’ve had quite a few Vegan tonkotsus in the past, so I’m hoping this one will be great. Let’s give it a try!

This one was sent during the great noodle drought of 2021 – long story short, I ran out of noodles and asked folks to send anything I’ve not reviewed. By the way – this is made in Japan, however it’s packaged for the US market. Was surprised I’d not tried this one! Let’s check it out!

Here’s another one I found at Uwajimaya a couple days ago when getting some narutomaki. I think the last time I tried this it was called Umami Tonkotsu. Anyways, ;et’s give it a go!

Today, we combine a noodle made in Hong Kong with a broth concentrate from the United States. I decided this would be a great venue to try out the homemade chashu we made this weekend – I’ll include the recipe in a video below as well. Let’s give this combo a try!

Haven’t had this variety in years and it looks to be a little different. There’s a fellow on YouTube named FirstNameLastName that’s been following my channel for quite a while, offering insightful comment and input on my episodes of Instant Noodle Recipe Time. He mentioned what I figure was this one, so seemed right to me to give it a go. Let’s check it out!

This is one sent by a reader named Keijiro – thanks! I’ve seen this one many times, but only way I’ve seen to get it is online and in a large quantity. I appreciate it so much when readers share a pack or two of something.

This one gets the USA tag since it is made in Japan but only for sale over here in this packaging. This comes by way of James from LAkeside, CA – thanks! So the charumera is the horn the little guy on the pack is holding up. The ramen guy would come to the neighborhood and toot that thing (kind of like the ice cream man playing Camptown Races) and you’d know to go get your noodles. Let’s check it out!

A happy Valentine’s Day to you all! It’s been crazy here – we’ve been dumped on with a ton of snow in the last couple of days. It’s melting though and hopefully it will be all gone soon. It’s been a rough month – the site got hacked, so I started a GoFundMe campaign – which proved that humanity is kind and I have the best viewership/readership in the world – thank you for your kind donations! The site is happy, and a couple items on the wish list were also got – a couple camera for Instant Noodle Recipe Time were donated, and I was able to get a scanner that measure 11×17 (the one I have has condensation on the inside and the new one should be here tomorrow). Then, this morning I come out to the living room to find my data drive where I keep the bulk of my day-to-day assets like templates etc. was hosed. Wouldn’t spin up. Luckily, there were finds left over from the GoFundMe that covered a new hard drive. I though – hey maybe the old one might still be under warranty and fished it out of the trash bin. No dice on that, but gave it one last try and it fired up! It’s backing up data right this second and should be done shortly! The safe bet is to stay with the new one that is coming since who knows how long this one will work. Anyways, I hope every one is having a great Valentine’s Day – it’s been a rollercoaster over here!

I’ve tried the Shoyu and Tonkotsu from these folks and I can honestly say it’s among the best I’ve had. From the noodle quality to the broth, they definitely cover all the bases. Now they’ve got single packs of it for sale! Check it out here!

I haven’t reviewed something for Hong Kong in a little while and this one was sent by a reader residing over there – thanks again! I remember getting about 56 varieties from Nissin HK when I did the Meet The Manufacturer series – that was pretty intense! Let’s check the temperature on this spicy tonkotsu!

It’s from Japan! It’s ‘Authentic Ramen Soup!’ It sounds decent! Well, not much else to say – let’s take a look.

It’s been a long time but got some samples from Nongshim America in the mail yesterday! Thanks!! Really stoked to try some new stuff. Let’s crack it open and see what’s inside!

Another one from Smart’n’Save in Richmond, BC’s Lansdowne Centre. Kumamoto flavor would definitely point towards tonkotsu; not a clue what else it could be. This is a product of Singapore, but labeling definitely makes it clear to me that it’s just for the Hong Kong market. Let’s check it out!

I was perusing the aisle at 99 Ranch Market the other day and saw this hiding towards the bottom shelf. What the heck is this? Well, they’re noodles made from potatoes and green beans with a tonkotsu broth. Not only that, there are three servings and they’re 100 calories each. Sounds like fun – let’s give em a try!

I’ve gone to a couple ramen restaurants and hotten something mentioning spicy. Well, it hasn’t impressed me in flavor or spiciness in the past and been, well, bitter. I’m really curious about this one, though. Ramen Hero is based in the Bay Area and serves a few surrounding states at the time of this post – check their site for current service area. You pick your ramen, pay, and they’ll overnight you a set of ingredients to make a bowl of ramen at home – including garnish! Not bad. Let’s give this one a try – they send four and since they’re perishable, I’m going to do them over the next couple days.
