Behold! I was contacted by a fellow on instagram who follows my reviews and asked if I’d tried these as he has, loved them, but couldn’t source them. I looked around and found ramentalk.us and let him know he could get them there, so he was really happy. I also contacted Ramen Talk to hopefully arrange for some samples. I’m certainly glad I did! These look really quite fascinating – they have a few varieties that I’ll be reviewing in short order as well, but this tonkotsu style sounds great – comes with lots of garnish – including a 7cm slice of chashu. On with the show!
Ramen Talk Japanese style BBQ Pork Tonkotsu Ramen – China
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains pork. To prepare, boil noodles 7~9 minutes. Add 360ml boiling water to a bowl. Add in sachet contents and stir. Drain noodles. Finally, add in noodle and enjoy!
A package of noodles.
A large sachet of liquid soup base.
I’m guessing this is the bamboo shoots.
Dried spring onion.
Chashu!
Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, spring onion, narutomaki, mung bean sprouts, sesame seed, and shichimi. The noodle is quite good – and quite a decent sized quantity. Excellent gauge with a soft tooth. The broth is a excellent tonkotsu – oiliness is exceptionally good, creaminess just right. Inclusions are just great – the scallion and sesame seed are very good, bamboo shoots were nice and crunchy, and the chashu. All in all, a wonderful new find. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.
