Yesterday, I tried making bread with Mom’s Dry Noodle brand instant noodles from Taiwan. I figured I’d continue the theme with MAMA – maternal instant noodle time over here I suppose. But anyways, this one is a completely different kind of deal. Let’s give it a go and see what kind of results we end up with.
Got an email recent from Thai President – the company that makes the popular MAMA noodles. Well, they also make Thai Chef and sent a box full of new varieties! Let’s check it out!
It’s been a while – since 2016 – that I’ve put out a list of my favorite instant noodle varieties from Thailand. It seems like forever ago that I was able to look out of a window and see the Chaophraya river winding it’s way through Bangkok, party boats blasting music all hours of the day and night. I truly hope life affords me the privilege of visiting Thailand again someday – it’s really a place to behold. A nice little portable and tasty piece of Thailand can be found in the varied instant noodle varieties that travel to us around the world. This one isn’t with noodles – for some reason I just ended up assuming they all had noodles although the first one I saw was a Pad Thai which I’m pretty sure will have noodles included. But I’ll give this a try noodles or no. I love curry so here we go!

It might sounds a little devilish, but aren’t the tastiest things usually babies? Baby clams, veal, lamb… The List goes on and on. Correct me if I’m wrong though; aren’t baby clams just small clams and not actually infantile clams? Less nefarious than the other stuff, don’t you think? Well, either way, 210kcal for the cup ain’t too shabby! Let’s try this one out!

MAMA of Thailand recently sent a big box of noodles – thank you! Lots of neat new varieties to sample including this one. I like curry and crab so I think this will be pretty good. Let’s check it out!
This yeah has just been rough – for everyone I know. After the hardest part of it for me – the passing of my mother – I took a week off from walking after doing 1,000,000 steps on my Fitbit in June and dove in to working on top ten lists. I did four of them, all current as of review 3545. This list hasn’t been updated since 2017. I’ll be rolling out lists here and there for the next couple of months and maybe do this again a little ways down the road. So in a prior Unboxing Time With The Ramen Rater, MAMA Noodles sent a couple masks. They turned out to the be the most comfortable ones I’ve found yet and so I asked if they might have some more I could use and spread around and they did! Thank you!
Okay so there’s Wai Wai in Thailnd, then Wai Wai in India, which I suspect is an exponentially larger affair. However I think they are part of the same company. It’s uncanny – Thai instant noodle companies have names with repeating syllables.
Almost 3000 reviews ago I gave this one a try. It looks as though I really liked it. It’s been such a long time it’s getting a new number- mainly because I’m going to guess that sourcing has changed at least soewhat and also the cup is different; it used to be a foam bowl.
The spicy fire trend reaches everywhere – here’s one from MAMA of Thailand now! It’s nice to see honestly; people really seem to like it hot and that’s something for years that wasn’t really offered. Something ‘hot and spicy’ was often anything but. Let’s see if this one packs a punch!
All I can think about when I see this one is Super Chicken. That in turn makes me think of Ice Cube. Which in turn reminds me of the days when I would ride on my mountain bike throughout the streets of Anacortes with a big boom box on the back blasting music and smoking cigarettes.

Here’s a new variety sent by the nice folks over at Thai Foods in Thailand – thank you! I’m really excited – my son Miles and I haven’t done a spicy noodle challenge with anything from Thailand thus far and I think this might be the one we’ll try. For those of you who haven’t tried before, tom yum is a spicy, citrussy and tasty flavor from Thailand usually in a soup form, but here is a dry noodle. Let’s give it a try!

A little while back, the kind folks at Yum Yum in Thailand sent me a box just packed with varieties I’d never tried before – thanks again! Today we’ve got one of them. What is tom klong pla krob you ask? Well, it’s a sour and spicy smoked fish soup. There, that wasn’t too hard, was it? Let’s pop it open and give it a try!

This one was sent to me by YumYum in December of 2017 – thank you! Nothing I like more than getting non-export versions of products. Why? Well, they’re more exotic to begin with. The non export varieties are the ones that can be found on store shelves in the country of origin. Found this one at the Jason’s Market grocery store in the bottom of the Taipei 101. I thought it looked interesting; first, it’s from Thailand. Second, it’s bean thread. I haven’t reviewed anything with beat thread in a very, very long time!
