I have all the noodles that MAMA sent in a big bag and going to blindly pick them out every day! Today, I pulled out this rice noodle – wide! Plus, tom yam flavor – definitely a good foot to start out with. Tom yam has a spicy and citrussy flavor to it – crisp and refreshing and tasty! Let’s have a look!

#2170: Maruchan Ramen Noodle Soup Mushroom Flavor
Here’s another one sent by a reader named Colin – thanks again! Today, I thought I’d cook up something for my wife Kit. Her actual name is Christine, but I’ve called her Kit for years. She’s always been a big fan of mushrooms – in fact, it’s because of her that I’ve started to like them. Oddly, here’s a Maruchan instant noodle I’ve not reviewed yet. I didn’t even know it still existed til Colin sent it over. Let’s have a look at this one.
#2169: Happy Family Vegetable Flavour Instant Noodles
This is one that the folks from Prima Taste sent me when I did a call for instant noodles to review when I was running low a while back – thanks again! I always love to find new varieties to review – and what surprises many is that I like trying different store brands. Many will say ‘oh – these aren’t special, they’re common!’ Well, they’re often not common where I live – and if I’ve not tried them, they’re definitely diamonds in the rough! Let’s have a look at this one!
#2168: Tseng Rice Noodle Shallot With Braised Pork Flavor
Here’s another new one from Tseng’s – shallot braised pork. Man, this sounds good – I really have high hopes. As I’ve opined before, Taiwanese braised anything is unbelievably good. Really, it isn’t just my opinion – I would mark it down as fact. If you don’t like Taiwanese braised anything, you just don’t know what tastes good and should have your tongue examined for mold or aliens. Let’s give this one a try and see how it translates to a rice noodle.
#2167: Great Value Vegetable Flavour Noodles With Vegetables
Here’s one my sister got me from up in Canada for my birthday! Thank you! Walmar instant noodles!
#2166: JML Instant Noodle Artificial Beef Flavor & Sour Pickled Cabbage
Purple! Nothing like purple. Purple crayons, The Color Purple, Purple Rain… Actually, I’m not really a fan of any of those; but when I see the color of purple on an instant noodle package, especially from Taiwan, Hong Kong or China, it usually denotes something pickled. Indeed, here we have sour pickled cabbage. This isn’t quite like sauerkraut but kind of like it. Anyways, let’s crack into this one – another kindly send by colin. Thanks again!
#2165: Suimin Noodles With Hot & Spicy Flavour
Here’s another one of the many cups that Jen from Australia sent a few months back – thank you again! Very curious about this one – how hot and spicy will it be? Let’s find out!
#2164: Tseng Rice Noodle Chinese Mushrooms With Soybean Vegetarian Braised Pork Flavour
This one sounds curious to me. While I do like braised pork – a lot- I’m unsure about this Chinese mushroom. But hey – I’ve been pleasantly surprised in the mushroom department before, right? Let’s give it a go!
#2163: Nissin Piritto Karakuchi Tantan Udon
Here’s another one sent by the kind folks at www.BoxFromJapan.com. You can subscribe to a monthly box of instant noodles from Japan – and what’s amazing is that every month they’ve sent me one, I’ve never gotten one that I’ve reviewed before! Here’s what they had to say about this variety:
#2162: Tseng Rice Noodle Seafood Laksa Flavour
So this is definitely a first – I don’t think I’ve ever heard of laksa from Taiwan! It sounds good – I mean hey, I make laksa here in the United States quite often but I’m sure my neighbors haven’t a clue what they’re smelling ‘must be some off kind of Hamburger Helper’ probably going through their minds. But laksa is a seriously tasty thing and I’m keen on seeing what Tseng has come up with for us. Let’s have a look!
#2161: Nongshim Chal Bibim Myun
After perusing Nongshim America’s website, I saw these noodles I hadn’t heard of before. A quick message to my contact at Nongshim and these magically arrived in a couple days! This is what you would call a Summer variety – the noodles are served cold with a spicy sauce. It’s made in South Korea, but definitely in packaging for the United States. Let’s give it a try!
#2160: Menraku Japanese Yakisoba Umami Sauce
It’s been a long time since I’ve reviewed anything by Menraku. Alwats bowls and always pretty good stuff. This one’s a yakisoba I got while on vacation in California’s Bay Area! Let’s check it out!
Product Samples From Tseng Noodles Of Taiwan
Today started well, then got a little crazy then got better – I started at 5am with reviewing some noodles. Then the power went out around 7am for over two hours! A bit later, the mailman knocked on the door with a big package of Taiwanese noodles! Tseng was in The Ramen Rater’s top Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time 2016 list this year – and they have some new products! Let check them out!
#2159: La Moderna Sazon Casero Sopa Con Tomate Y Sabor Pollo
Here’s one sent by Colin after a trip to Mexico – thanks! Translating shouldn’t be hard, but for thoes who can’t, this is tomato chicken soup with noodles. Sounds like it should be pretty good! Let’s find out!
#2158: A-Sha Chow Mein Original Flavor
Here’s another one of the newer A-Sha tray designs. This one’s original flavor, which is kind of a soy sauce flavor I believe. Let’s check it out!
Disney Noodles From Nissin Thailand!
Walked to get the mail today and the mailman gave me this box. Wasn’t sure what it was and then remembered! Nissin Thailand has a line of Winnie The Pooh themed noodles I saw a few times on instagram. I asked my contact Ms. Janenate about getting some samples and here they are! You might remember her name from the Nissin Thailand Meet The Manufacturer (check it out here). The neat little cups have little Winnie The Pooh fishcake in them! Let’s look inside!
#2157: Master Kong Artificial Mushroom Chicken Flavor Instant Noodle
Here’s one sent to me by Colin – thanks again! So these have been a real conundrum for me for quite a long time. The little chef on the logo is definitely different from the regular Master Kong chef, but I can’t get to the bottom of the exact name of this brand and so it’s Master Kong?
#2156: A-Sha Chow Mein Oyster Sauce BBQ Flavor
The next edition of The Ramen Rater’s top Ten Taiwanese Instant Noodles Of All Time will be coming out in about a month, and so I’ll be cramming in as many late ones to arrive as possible. Today, one of a trifecta by A-Sha Dry Noodles – microwavable trays! Definitely something I’ve not seem out of Taiwan before that I can think of. Anyways, let’s give it a whirl in the ol’ microwave!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2155: Jingqi Aloe Vera Guan Mian Purple Sweet Potato Noodles With Spicy Miso Sauce
Today, we bid a fond farewell to Jingqi at the end of this Meet The Manufacturer. Lots of great flavors and the noodles! Well, let’s delve into this final variety!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2154: Jingqi Black Eyes Bean Original Noodles With Sesame Sauce
For thje past four days, I’ve been enjoying a noodle lunch with my son Andy – today’s our last one for this Meet The Manufacturer, He’s really been enjoying them a lot! Let’s check out the sesame flavor sauce and original noodle in the thinner gauge.
Meet The Manufacturer: #2153: Jingqi Aloe Vera Guan Mian Pumpkin Noodles With Basil Sauce
I liked the black eyes beans noodle version of this one with the basil sauce quite a bit, however I’ve been excited to try it with this style noodle as well! Let’s check it out!

The Top Ten Taiwan list is coming late September and a few Taiwanese companies are sending me their latest products ! Let’s see what A-Sha Dry Noodle has to offer!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2152: Jingqi Black Eyes Bean Cyanobacteria Noodles With Ginger Oil Sauce
Now I’ve tried all the different sauces with one type of noodles – now we’ll go through and see how they work with the other noodle! Today it’s the cyanobacteria noodle once again – good stuff! Instead of the wider lasagna-like gauge, this is the thinner one. Ginger oil sauce too! Let’s check it out!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2151: Jingqi Aloe Vera Guan Mian Original Noodles With Sesame Sauce
In the last review of this style of noodle, I really liked its breadth and thinness. Curious to see how it plays with a sesame sauce. Let’s find out!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2150: Jingqi Black Eyes Bean Purple Sweet Potato Noodles With Spicy Miso Sauce
I always like looking at the purple sweet potato noodles when I come across them. Something interesting about eating food in a shade of purple. Spicy and purple? Sign me up! Let’s check these out!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2149: Jingqi Aloe Vera Guan Mian Cyanobacteria Noodles With Ginger Oil Sauce
Not often do I come across a noodle product with the word ‘bacteria’ in the title, but I am definitely not fearful of it. I found this post about cyanobacteria, also known as spirulina/blue green algae. Very interesting! Let’s give it a try!
Meet The Manufacturer: #2148: Jingqi Black Eyes Bean Pumpkin Noodles With Basil Sauce
As there are 2 kinds of noodles and 4 flavors of sauce, I’ll be alternating back and forth between the noodles during this Meet The Manufacturer to keep things lively! This one looks interesting – the noodles are infused with pumpkin and comes with a thick basil sauce. Let’s check it out!
Meet The Manufacturer: Product Samples From Jingqi
A very large box arrives!
Very nicely packed!
Lot sof varieties!
Here are three of them (click to enlarge) Looking forward to trying them all – thank you!

#2147: Maruchan Instant Lunch Pork Flavor Ramen Noodles With Vegetables
Before I start, I wanted to thank Happiness Engineer Anne and the folks at Automattic, makers of the Jetpack plugin for WordPress. There was a bug in the way it handled mobile themes with their newest release and I asked for help. In less than 2 days, a fix was out and everything’s looking nice again!
#2146: Sapporo Ichiban Kun Ramen Sumo-kuchikin (Smoked Chicken)
Here’s soimething I’ve never seen before – smoked chicken ramen! This one hails from Japan and was sent by Javier over at www.BoxFromJapan.com. You can subscribe to receive a box with 4 different Japanese ramen bowls every month – it’s pretty awesome and honestly since it includes the shipping pretty cheap. Let’s see what Javier has to say about this one:
#2145: Dream Kitchen Tonkotsu
Found this one at the Uwajimaya in Renton, Washington. Never had seen it before and by what it looks like on the label, this is a private label for a big distributor here in the USA by a company in Singapore. Unsure which company makes it though. Let’s check it out!
#2144: Nissin Lamen Sabor Picanha
Here’s one of the last two sent to me by my cousins Adriana and Mike O. – thank you very much! Picanha is considered to be the best cut of meat in Brazil – let’s give it a try!
Very Unique Donations From Texas!
Today I got this box in the mail from Marvin in Fort Worth, Texas! What’s inside?
We’re greeted by tasty packing peanuts, coffee treats and a card (click to enlarge). Marvin has a coffee and grill business! Check it out if you’re in Fort Worth or online at www.rodakscoffeeandgrills.com
Penang Curry Samples From Nyor Nyar!
A package from Malaysia! Let’s look within!
Hmmm what do we have here?
Penang White Cuury in regular and vegetarian! Seems like for a while I was reviewing so much white curry… Really excited to try some again!!
#2143: Thien Huong Food Lemon Chicken Flavour Instant Noodles
Here’s another one sent by a reader named Colin – thanks! He’s sent quite a few! This one’s from Vietnam – haven’t reviewed many from there in a while… Let’s have a look!
#2142: Maruchan Bowl Taste Of Asia Miso Chicken Flavor Spicy Miso Ramen
Here’s another one of these interesting new Maruchan Taste Of Asia bowls… These are really interesting; such a departure for their traditionally domestic flavors that are sold here in the United States. I like it! Let’s give it a try!
#2141: Nissin Men Shokunin Kaoruyasai Shio
Here’s another one from Javier over at www.BoxFromJapan.com, a subscription service. You can get a box of different Japanese instant noodles (or candy!) from Japan every month! Of all the subscription services for instant noodles I’ve seen thus far, this is the best. Today’s ramen looks really neat – here’s what Javier had to say about it:
