#4533: Ottogi Jin Jjambbong Spicy Seafood Noodle – South Korea

#4533: Ottogi Jin Jjambbong Spicy Seafood Noodle - South Korea

Back in March of 2017, I reviewed this one for the first time. In November, I ended up going to Taiwan for the second time and it was really quite amazing. The first day there I think, I got to visit a little restaurant called ‘Love Instant Noodles.’

I tried it for the second time there and that solidified my feeling that it’s the best seafood flavor Korean instant noodle. I should also mention that with a bit of cabbage, fresh squid and other things, it’s even better. Sadly, this restaurant is no longer in business but I’m sure Alan & Jouce are doing interesting things.

I’ve been wanting to try Jin Jjambbong again since then, and finally I got some while out shopping on Lunar New Year’s Eve. I had some on Lunar New Year’s Day and it was absolutely fantastic. Now, I’ll cook it again and show you how I did it in the episode below of Instant Noodle Recipe Time. This stuff is really exceptional.

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains seafood. To prepare, add noodle, sauce, and flake sachet to 550ml boiling water and cook for 5 minutes. Add in oil sachet. Finally, stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.

A sachet of liquid soup base.

The flake sachet – dehydrated vegetables.

A spicy oil sachet.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added processed cheese, egg, chashu, shrimp, fish ball, fish cake, spring onion, mung bean sprout, crushed red pepper, and sesame seed. Noodle is probably the best gauge Korea has to offer – nice and thick and wide as well. The broth is menacing in it’s wonderfulness; spicy, yes – but it also has this grilled seafood taste which just doesn’t quite which is so savory. Finally, the included vegetable and seafood bits are just perfection.  I would give this a higher score if I could. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.  UPC bar code 8801045522555.

Stirred (click to enlarge).  I thought I’d also include a shot of how it looks once the egg and cheese are stirred in. The broth takes on a different look – it’s very creamy and wonderful.I added a little more spring onion and sesame seed as well. Just a show stopper this one – I highly recommend it it and as always, you can see the nuts and bolts of how I prepared it below on Instant Noodle Recipe Time.
