Over 5,000 Instant Ramen Noodle Reviews Since 2002

This one definitely has potential to be good – real good. That noodle on the package looks superb and so I’m crossing my fingers. Let’s crack it open and give it a try!

Found these at S*Mart in Bellevue, Washington. Yup – shop smart shop S*Mart. Anyways this is a green chili mi goreng . Not my first rodeo as other brands have done this before over in Indonesia. Let’s cook it up!

Hey it’s Monday. A windy, rainy Monday on November 4th – my mom would’ve been 89 today. This is a variety of dry noodle from A-Sha for the Momofuku restaurants. Really looking forward to this – and I’ll be adding something neat into it. Let’s give it a go!

This is the second of three and yup – will be a mukbang. I think I’m in the mood for a mukbang today – last night was Halloween and it rained – poured – and so something hot sounds good. Still raining today. Let’s give it a go.

Found this one at S*Mart. Shop smart! Shop S*Mart! So all I know is that at the end it says it’s xiao mian (chow mein) so it’s brothless. Peppers floating in the aether imply heat. Chongqing is regional. Okay, let’s muddle…

Here’s a variety that I found in one of MiauMall’s Nakama Noodles subscription boxes! These are discontinued, however you can find their stuff at MiauMall – here is what they said about this one – “This ramen treat is a true safe haven from all the things that go bump in the night! This ramen features a tasty salt base with hints of pork for umami. The real star, however, is the onion oil and pepper oil with hints of garlic, chili and black pepper for tons of flavor!””

Hey big thanks to Daniel over at Exotic Noods for sending this over! I am a big fan of coriander (cilantro) and this one seems to have a lot of it. It’s funny; the coriander we get here in the stores is so dark and I try to find it a lighter shade but it’s never very healthy stuff. I don’t know why. Anyways, Let’s give this a try.

Well, I think it’s time for a break. I’ve done quite a few reviews this week and I’m so far ahead. As I write this it’s May 2nd, 2024. Weather’s getting nicer. I might do some more soon though as there’s a lot of rain in the forecast… But anyways, I had one the other day that mentioned Shaxian style noodles and this one sounded interesting as that one the other day was incredible! Well, let’s give it a go!

A big thank you to James from Lakeside, California for surprising me a while back with this extra huge instant noodle tray. It’s like four full sized packs of noodles. Will I eat the whole thing? Yeah, I don’t think so. Anything that requires almost a liter and half or water to steep it is going to be pretty crazy. This one was going to me a contender for review #5000. Let’s gie it a try!

Here’s a variety that I found in one of MiauMall’s Nakama Noodles subscription boxes! IThese boxes are discontinued but you can get neat stuff over at MiauMall! Let’s see what they had to say about this one – “Nissin isn’t done with their own birthday celebration! This tasty snack pack features fried ramen that you eat as is. This special birthday pack features a tasty flavor powder with the flavors of cheddar, gouda, cream cheese, garlic, basil and more to recreate that pizza taste. *This is ramen snack and no cooking is required!”

Well this is a little different – but cool. Hot Ones is a YouTube show where celebrities go on and do an interview while eating increasingly spicy chicken wings. Gorden Ramsay practically cried and had a tantrum. Anyways, these are in a series – there’s three cups and three bowls. I’ve got the cups, so I’ll be trying them (yes, mukbang) in short order and seeing how they go. These are made in Vietnam for the US market. Let do this.

Here’s the first of a slew of A-Sha varieties. This one is a collab between Momofuku, a hoidy-toidy restaint chain and A-Sha. While made in Taiwan, this is specifically for the US market. Shall we?

James from Lakeside, California emailed me the other day on some packs he found at Grocery Outlet and sent my way. These are very very interesting in that they’re got clear stuff going on, common prison named flavors, and so on. Watch the vid and maybe check you local Grocery Outlet should you have one. Thanks again man – awesome find!

Well foks, after my 5000 and 5001st reviews, this is where I go back to the regular stuff. Well, sorta. I’ve got a few top tens I need to crank out. By the time you see this, hopefully that’ll have occurred. But I just wanna do a regular old review – nothing crazy or huge, nothing monumental – just a review. Seems like I haven’t done one in a month so that’s it I’m doing one. Found this at S*Mart – yep – shop smart shop S*Mart. Let us begin…

What, you thought I was done at 5000?
Here’s a variety that I found in one of MiauMall’s Nakama Noodles subscription boxes! Inside, they have 8-10 different varieties from Japan! If you’d like to get one, don’t forget to use the coupon code THERAMENRATER for a discount! Let’s see what they had to say about this one – “Now let’s take the shinkansen (bullet train) down to Akakaksa, Tokyo for some Chinese food! This shoyu ramen has a delicious 5-ingredient topping and a thick, tasty Guangdong style broth. This cup is inspired by a famous Chinese restaurant in Tokyo called Akasaka Rikyu.”

So, I’m sorry to let you know, but today I’m unboxing the last Nakama Noodles box. They’re discounting these great boxes as well as their Naniwa snack and candy boxes. If you want to get some of the neat stuff that were in these, you’ll still be able to fine it at MiauMall. If you’d like to get one of these last boxes, they’ll be available until mid-April at deep discounts, so check em out! Let’s do the final unboxing which is a mashup of both their boxes.

The second of two new fresh varieties from Myojo you’ll find in the refrigerated section. Let’s give it a try!

Frank from 5am Ramen contacted me recently about sending over a box – he’s a purveyor of noodlee guides and tours in Japan as well as really super premium ramen bowls. Thanks! Let’s see what’s inside!

James is a kind of noodle whisperer; he has been sending boxes with stuff in them that 99% of the time I’ve never heard of. This box is no different – lots of neat stutff in here including a variety made in Vietnam for Poland! Thanks!! Let’s take a look.

It’s the 66th birthday of Nissin’s Chikin Ramen, the original instant ramen! This bowl features 18 spices that gives the curry soup plenty of flavor and a deep, spicy flavor. If you love ramen packed with flavor, then this bowl is perfect for you!”

My friend The Fat Hipster told me about Kenchan Ramen recently, so as I do when I hear about anything new in the ramen realm, I reached out. They replied and sent samples – thanks! I’ve tried everything and you can see them in this video. Thank you very much – they’re really good! Let’s check ’em out!

Here’s another one of the new Myojo bowls! Really curious about how spicy this will be. Should be good – let’s give it a try!

Here’s one I got out of the huge box Nissin sent me for National Noodle Day. I figured I’d reviewed everything in there, but nope! There’s a few! Let’s give it a god.

Thanks to James from Lakeside California for this one. My guess is this will be spicy; maybe Sichuan peppercorn spicy. This is a cold noodle, so it should be interesting. Well, let’s do this.

Here’s anothe Nissin Demae Iccho cup found at miniso. Anyways, the last one was good and sesame oil is kind of the standard for this range – the flagship I suppose, Let’s give it a go!

Here’s something new that arrived in a refrigerated pack from Myojo USA – thank you very much! It’s hard. I always want to embellish a bowl of tonkotsu with egg and chashu, fish cake, you know… But although I’m guess they’d all compliment this, I want to keep it on the plant-based side of things. This is a refrigerated section item and should be able to be found at the store in the United States. Anyways, let’s give it a try!

I’ve seen this on Amazon and elsewhere kind of recently but never in the ‘wild’ until this last weekend. Well, as I type this I mean September 28th 2024 last weekend. My lovely wife Kit took us over to S*Mart in Bellevue, Washington for a quick noodle hunt and three varieties of this range were lurking. It wasn’t really a quick hop over there – there was some insane traffic on the way home. However there was a bit of rain and a nice rainbow for the kids to enjoy on the way back while we sat in traffic. This one is made in South Korea by Samyang let’s check this out!

Here’s a new one from Myojo – sounds good and definitely in the mood – let’s give it a try!

Let’s see what they had to say about this one – “Obviously, the moon can’t be viewed at night, so let’s start with a visit to night stall for some tasty akisoba! This bowl combines two festival favorites—yakisoba and grilled corn! Add in a tasty charred shoyu (soy sauce) sauce and you’ll be vibing under the moonlight!”

Big thanks to James from Lakeside, California for this one! Yeah these are big, that’s for sure – really big. Like huge. Let’s cook it up!

Thanks to James from Lakeside, California for sending this along. Been years since a Shirakiku variety crossed paths with my desk. What’s more, I don’t know that I’ve seen imagery on a tonkotsu featuring a fork before. Let’s give it a whirl.

We went out on Saturday – the kids were so good last week at school so we had to give them an outing to the mall. Nice to get out. Well, Sunday we all had sore throats and the kids were coughing. Today is Monday and my wife Kit and I sound like we gargled with scouring pads and our throats are sore as can be. Ugh. It never fails; the kids go back to school, everybody gets sick. I’m up early – first one up and typing away at this point. No ten miles of walking for me today. I think at least one kid will be home today too. Guess we will see. Anyways, it should be an interesting episode of Instant Noodle Recipe Time at the bottom of this post today – I’m guessing I’m going to sound like Barry White. But tonkotsu really sounds good – so I’ll do it up. Let’s give it a try. Oh – I found it along with two others in the range at a store at the mall called Miniso – okay, on with it.

Big thank you to James from Lakeside, California for sending! The last one of these I tried was a vegetable mushroom and it was really quite nice – now we have a seafood mushroom. I’m curious if there will also be a sweetness in this one. Well, let’s find out.

Let’s see what they had to say about this one – “We at Nakama Noodles can’t have a celebration without a spicy treat! This is one of our favorite packs with its savory, spicy soup that combines shoyu with a Japanese clam dashi and plenty of smoky chili. Add an egg to make it an excellent Tsukimi ramen choice!”

Here’s one sent by James from Lakeside, California – thank you! Wasn’t sure if I’d had this one however the other I’ve had from this range was udon with seafood flavor. Let’s toss in some chashu and give it a go!

This bowl is one of Japan’s best-sellers in the instant noodle game with its thick, tasty sauce that packs a flavor punch in every bite! The seaweed and red ginger topping adds even more flair to every bite!”

Big thanks to James from Lakeside for this one! Jjamppong is a favorite of mine and this sounds like a Nagasaki jjamppong. Let’s cook it up!

If you follow my annual global top ten list, you’ll know that Prima Taste’s Wholegrain Laksa LaMian has been at the top of the list of my faves for many years. But that’s not the only product they produce. Here are four others that you might not have seen, some of which unavailable in the United States. Let’s check ’em out!

This tasty ramen from Maruchan combines the umami of chicken with tasty green chili for plenty of flavor and smokiness. Add in a bit of mayo flavor and you end up with a super creamy soup that we love!”

Big thank you to James from Lakeside, California for sending! This sounds interesting; dragonfruit as an ingredient in the noodle. Curious as to what aspect that would impart to the noodle? Let’s try it out.
