This one comes by way of Jammes of Lakeside, California – thanks again! So, porridge? Instant porridge is very often found on instant noodle aisles in Asian grocery stores. I try to stick to noodles, but when there’s other things adjacent to the might noodle, it bears investigating. With that, let’s give it a try.
Vifon Instant Porridge With Shiitake Mushroom – Vietnam

A distributor / import sticker (click to enlarge).

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add sachet contents to 350ml boiling water. Steep for 3 minutes, stirring frequently. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Dry porridge.

A sachet of soup base powder seasoning.

A retort pouch with shiitake.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added sesame seed, scallion, and basil. Porridge is reasonably thick as expected although personally I like thicker. The flavor is mellow – a salty kind of vegetable taste with little bits of mushroom. Not bad, not earth shattering. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8935311110563.
