#4524: Acecook Maruuma Wantan Chuka Soba - Japan

Here’s one that came in a Zenpop.jp box – use coupon code THERAMENRATER for a groovy discount!

Here’s what they had to say about this one – ‘Finally, Acecook released a new item in their Maruuma series (まる旨), and it doesn’t disappoint! The Chinese style soba (中華そば) and the fragrant soup stock are delicious! The noodles have a round edge, are quite elastic and very smooth. Together with the rich soy sauce soup based on a chicken and pork broth with dried bonito flakes, it’s a nice winter cup. Finished with filling wontons (ワンタン), eggs, and green onions, it’s a satisfying cup to eat for lunch or dinner!

Wantan is quite nice. I’m curious of how the flavor is on this one though. Guess we’re going to find out!

The noodle block.

Loose bits and seasoning from the cup.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added chashu, shichimi, sesame seed, and mung bean sprout. Noodle was a bit spongy – a cpuple more than 3 minutes would’ve worked much better. The broth was rather uneventful – but not too bad. The wantan was far from hydrated; a little crunch and funk here. Tasty, but underdone in three minutes. 2.0 out of 5.0 stars.  JAN bar code 4901071246204.
