Over 5,000 Instant Ramen Noodle Reviews Since 2002

Got an email a few weeks back from Gemini Food Corp. about their instant noodles. They’re a distributor in California.

Got this great package from Joe B. who lives over in England – thanks, man! Let’s look inside!
Hey folks – so we’ve re-tooled our rates for August! We now have monthly pricing and 30% off for August! Check out this PDF to find out more. Thank you!

So Monday I received a package from Mr. Ichiro Yamoto. He was also on God Of Patena, the show I was on too! He sells unique instant noodles in Japan and was kind enough to send me some really great varieties! Thank you!

Today, a package arrived in the mail! Samples from Sakurai Foods for Meet The Manufacturer!

Merry Christmas everyone! This is a picture I saw on the Indomie facebook page – thought it was perfect. They’ve got a new green variety! I’ll be reviewing it soon! Don’t know if I will be drinking a glass of milk with it though! Merry Christmas!

Been quite a while since I reviewed this one – it was #348. I thought some kimchi sounded really good and so here we go!
Today I watched “Mind Of A Chef,” a PBS show (here’s a link so you can watch it – it’s amazing!) . It has David Chang, who is really great to listen to and watch cook – and ramen is something he definitely has a passion for. Feeling kindred in this respect, I decided to use some of the things I saw in the show to make myself some dinner. I had some leftover frozen Yamachan ramen noodles. I thought these would be a good start, then I used the following.

Here’s the last of the Golden Mie varieties sent to me by Carter B. from his travels in Mali. These noodles actually are from Dubai! Awesome!

Here’s one of the new varieties sent by a friend in Jakarta, Indonesia – thank you! After trying so many Indonesian instant noodles, it looks like the flavors are almost backwards – Rasa means flavor, kari means curry and spesial means, well, special. Flavor curry special? Special curry flavor! It’s also a big pack and looks like it’s a soup. Well, let’s give it a try.
Welcome to WordPress. This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!

Here’s one Greg B. from Florida sent a while back. This sounds pretty interesting – let’s give it a try.

Here’s the tenth installment of The Ramen Rater Noodle News! I look around the Internet and bring all sorts of interesting stories and articles about instant ramen noodles here! Enjoy!
I received an email recently from someone asking if I could do a Top Ten Instant Noodle Bowls list as they found the bowls to be more convenient. I figured why not as soon as some immediately came to mind. I spent some time thinking and the list was complete. So now we have the Top Ten Instant Noodle Bowls – In The World – according to The Ramen Rater.
In California – will come back with huge news – stay p

osted!

Here’s the new Noodle News #6! I scour the net for stories on noodles from all over the place! Here you go!

This week, we received three more awesome submissions from you guys! Thanks! Here they are, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as judged by my lovely wife.
Have you got a favorite recipe for instant noodles? Comment on this post and I’ll add them to the Recipes page! I’m seeing a lot of people posting them elsewhere, so add em’ here too! Maybe also leave your first name, last initial and city/ state! You’ll be immortalized in The Ramen Rater!
So I’ve selected a few people who comment a lot and asked if they would like to contribute to the site. So far a couple have responded. Hopefully, you’ll start seeing a post or two from these guys!

Here’s a link to the partial article. Soon as I can, I’ll have the whole thing here to read. Kind of bummed I can’t read it yet!

So I’ve decided to make another site — this one will be where
you can get most of the varieties that are on

Another box from Greg B. of Florida! Wow thanks! I wonder what’s inside…

Awesome – some great stuff in here! One in particular I’ve been dying to try is the new Nong Shim Shin Ramyun Black. That’ll be reviewed very soon! Thanks again, Greg!
Here’s the new list in Word format. It contains all 598 reviewed and ‘sitting in the ramen hamper awaiting review’ varieties. Want to donate something not on the list here? Email info@ramenrater.com for details.
So this guy comments on the Maruchan Cheese Yakisoba review and tells me he did a YouTube video – well, here it is. Pretty funny – plus it had a pug in it as well. Good stuff – keep it up!
There’s a new tab at the top of the page simply called ‘The List.’ I will attempt to contantly have it up to date and it’s everything I’ve reviewed and everything I’ve got in my ramen box as well. You can also click here to view it.

Check it out!

Thought I would post some articles about what is going on in the noodle world…
So if you look at the top of the page, there’s a link now for the new Media Coverage page. There’s been some things going on lately and they’ll appear here shortly.

So here’s something interesting. This is for the health conscious noodle fan – from Korea, we have Nongshim’s Noodle Lite 275.

So as far as I know, this is the third in the trifecta of big cup noodles that they’re putting out here in the USA. I have seen reviews of Japanese-market big cup noodles though… Anyways, big!

The King of Cups! It’s big! It’s lobster! It’s today on The Ramen Rater!

Dehydrated veg on the left, powder on the right.

Again another flavor of Nissin Cup Noodles! Spicy Chile Chicken! Let’s see if this stuff packs any heat!

Wow this is very interesting! Pork and Tomato? How bizarre! I think this’ll be quite a different experience.

Looks interesting – so far I have really enjoyed this line by Myojo quite a bit. Seems pretty gourmet…

Okay so I was falling asleep the other night and thought to myself “I wonder if there is pork flavor ramen… Does it exist, and does it taste remotely like pork?” Answer: yes there is and other answer is not really.
Over 7 years have passed since the inception of ramenrater.com. For much of the past few years though, I haven’t really done much with it due to other interests. I’m happy to say I’ve decided to spend more time with ramenrater.com again and update it. Above, you can see the A-M and N-Z links – they do as the old site did. Reviews will be done in blog format from here on out, and henceforward will be searchable by brand and flavor, etcetera.
