Its pretty darn rare that I spend anything on something like this. I was so curious and hopeful on this one though. 1963 is the year that Samyang came to be. When they started, people had to learn about instant ramyun – it was misconceived as a textile initially. Also, their first product was chicken flavor but they switched to a beef style and it was a hit. This one is interesting as it employs beef tallow. The whole beef tallow thing really gets me – not sure why people are so crazed about it. In the end, its whether or not its good and I have very high expectations for this one. Let’s give it a good try.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, scallion, ground beef, crushed red pepper, and sesame seed. Noodle was excellent – fans of Samyang’s noodles will be very happy with them. The broth starts with a very rich beef flavor. There’s a decent amount of spiciness, mostly peppery. It is a good ramyun, but I expected to be very very impressed, yet I found it not a blockbuster. I’m glad I got the chance to try it though – fans of beef flavored things and beef tallow will be enthused I think. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8801073145085.
