Hey look! I sure remember my children losing their minds over Baby Shark, that song endlessly playing over and over, the hand gestures mimicking the chomping of sharks… I’m so relieved it’s over. Well, here we are. I must admit, shark shaped topokki sounds fascinating and this seems doable. Granted no, it’s not ramen. But it was at Boo Han Market in Edmonds, Washington next to ramen. Let’s cook it.

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, rinse topokki and add to a pot with 110ml boiling water. Once it returns to boiling, lower heat and add sachet contents. Simmer for 3~4 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added pepper thread, scallion, fish cake, and chashu. The tteokbokki is just right when cooked in the way directed. I like the size and the texture as well – soft and chewy. The sauce is just delectable – cheesy and goopy and alfredo-esque but different. This stuff is incredibly good. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars.
