Re-Review: Maruchan Creamy Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

Found these at Walmart yesterday – or wait that was today… We decided to go shopping at 1am – figured we’d beat the crowds… Well, we did beat the crowds but they were restocking – pretty amazing all the pallets they load there at night! Wow… Anyways, creamy chicken sounded good. Here’s the original review and I’ll do a really in-depth re-review soon!

Finished (click image to enlarge. Added processed  cheese, sweet onion, an egg and some almonds. Oh man this is grubbin’ stuff – it is indeed creamy chicken ultra comfort food flavored. Great noodles, great broth. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars – a delicious guilty pleasure!

#340: Shirakiku Tokusen Shoyu Ramen Japanese Style Noodle

Always nice to see a bag of noodles that I’ve only seen previously in five packs. I don’t like buying five packs period. Doesn’t matter if they are super cheap – I only want to eat one, review it and then move on. So let’s see how this goes.

One packet.

The powder set the stage for the next phase: 2 eggs that have been boiled with the noodles, some kizami shoga and some fried shallot.

Click image to enlarge. I like how this one came out – like food porn. Anyways, Yes I give this one a thumbs up – the noodles are nice and the broth tasty. Once all this other stuff was added, it was a festival of tastiness. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.

#337: Maruchan Creamy Chicken Flavor Ramen Noodle Soup

Yeah – seriously. I’ve always liked this kind of thing – I know Nissin Top Ramen had a variety in the past too… So let’s try this out.

One packet. One packet to rule.

A lovely dune of powdered flavor awaiting freedom from dryness.

The finished product (click image to enlarge). Ahhh I like this stuff – really comfy. I like to let it sit for a few minutes after cooking so the noodles suck up more of the broth – that really gets it creamy. The creamy flavor is absolutely perfect. I love this stuff. Of all the cheap domestics here in the US, I think this is my favorite of them all – 5.0 of 5.0 stars.

#333: Nissin Big Cup Noodles Shrimp Flavor Spoonable Noodles & Soup Ramen Noodle Soup

So my lady found this one at a supermarket a couple days ago – we go there all the time so I’m thinking this is extremely new so Check it out!

Bammm look at that big sucker – it looks angry!

So the insane part here is that there is no vegetable contant at all. What’s also insane is that the noodles taste REALLY GOOD uncooked – I mean its like a little thing of potato chips! I’m very curious how they will pan out…

Click image to enlarge. Finished product plus two eggs. Well, not extremely a lot to report here. Broad noodles and flavoring. The eggs made it more interesting… I hate to say it but this is the most boring cup of noodles I’ve ever had! Although the dry or wet eating possibilities are wondrous. I think the uncooked noodles would go awesome on top of some lettuce and chicken and you could make a nice asian sesame salad or something I don’t know… But yeah I’m just trying to save these noodles from the review axe. Maybe it’s because I really like Nissin and always would like to see their stuff really do well. But then again, this is a product geared towards US distribution so it’s a kind of safe bet. So here we go. 2.25 out of 5.0 stars. Yep that’s it. Okay. UPC bar code 070662030424.

So couldn’t find anything bout it but here’s something really cool – better than a decoder ring in your Wheaties.

I drink this like a wino drinks wine. The diet variety. It’s goodness…

#331: Sunlee Crab Flavour Instant Noodle (Bowl)

So here’s something I’ve not tried before – Sunlee brand from Thailand! Crab is usually a pretty good instant noodle flavor… Let’s see how this tastes…

Clockwise from top: a fork (gee, no way!), chili powder and soup base dual packets and seasoned oil.

So I noticed that it said that there was no fat in it which I figured couldn’t possibly be correct when it said how many calies were from fat. So if you ever see something like this and you need to know, there’s 9 calories per gram of fat. So its about 12.2 grams of fat here.

Seasonings atop the noodle block.

Click image to enlarge. I added two fried eggs with a little garlic salt. Well I must say this is super uber tasty stuff! The noodles were very nice, the broth was very tasty and spicy enough too. I was extremely pleased and happy to give this one 4.5 out of 5.0 stars!

#327: Gomex 3 Miến Mì Tôm Hùm Lobster Flavour Instant Noodles

So here’s a brand I’ve never tried before. Gomex is produced by Viet Hung Food, another brand I’ve never heard of before. So I suppose its time to strap on the old noodle bowl and try this stuff.

Clockwise from top: veggies, seasoned oil, soup base.

From left to right: veggies, soup base powder and seasoned oil. The noodle block is of the preseasoned variety – could eat it like potato chips.

So I think the Tower of Power record’s warped enough so it’s time for a new one to sit atop a bowl while the noodles cook. Ole Bunk here should do quite nicely.

Click image to enlarge. Finished product with one egg added. The broth is tasty and a light spicy. The noodles are a tad thinner than the regular kind you’d expect in a pack like this. They’re really quite good. The veggies add a nice touch and it all comes together very nicely. I’m giving it 3.5 out of 5.0 stars.

Wow – what an awesome commercial that was! After eating these noodles, I went outside and jumped around for a while.

It’s my birthday tomorrow.

#326: Little Cook Instant Noodles TVP Curry Chicken Flavoured

So here’s another of the big ole Little Cook bowls. I would like to say first that curried chicken is one of the favorite things of mine. Let’s see if it’s good.

Here’s the side – yeah its big.

A little packet with some curry soup base seasoning.

Hooray for retort pouch! Full of sauce and vegetables!

Revolutionary and amazing!

Here’s the block of noodles with the curry soup base.

Click image to enlarge. The finished product. Okay first off the pouch contained some interesting stuff. It looks like those little brown round things are supposed to be chicken chunks, although its gotta be textured vegetable protein. The broth is excellent – nice curry flavor for sure. The noodles aren’t bad – nothing special. The veggies are okay too but kind of wish there had been more. Long story short, I liked it! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.

Re-Review: Indomie Mi Goreng Rasa Ayam Panggang Jumbo Barbecue Chicken Flavour Fried Instant Noodles

So I got a message this morning from a gentleman in Denmark who thought that Indomie’s special fried curly noodles were some of the best stuff he’s ever had. I must agree! Coincidentally, I found a pack of this stuff sitting in the cupboard and thought that the barbecue chicken flavor really could use a re-review. So come on and follow me on a journey into the world of tasty noodles!

Okay – from left to right: powder, veggies, seasoned oil, chili sauce (manis pedas) and sweet soy sauce (kecap manis).

Here’s everything but the veggies sitting in a bowl.

Here are the veggies sitting atop the block awaiting a bath in boiling water.

Click image to enlarge. Added one jumbo fried egg with a soft yolk, some pink pickled ginger (kizami shoga) and some fried shallots. This is absolutely divine. I love giving this stuff 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. It just works so well and tastes so good. I recommend it to everyone everywhere –  especially with the egg! I found a place online to get it but it’s the non-jumbo size packs. They’re here.

Just to remind, I’m giving this 5.0 out of 5.0 – this is one of the best all time noodles I’ve ever tasted. Get it here.

#232: Indomie Jumbo Mi Goreng Rasa Daging Sapi Beef Flavour Fried Instant Noodles

Uber. Good stuff for sure. I’m going to spare the pleasantries and just say this stuff kicks some ass. On to the reality of the best stuff.

Seasoned oil. Sweet soy sauce. Fried onions. Seasoning powder. Chili powder.

Look at all that – egad a cacophony of flavors!

So here we are (click image to enlarge). I added  two fried eggs and some fried shallots and some kizami shoga – spicy pink ginger. So what’s so great about this stuff? Well, the noodles are perfect. I must say that these are the best fried noodles hands down. They’re chewy and firm. The seasonings are complex and with five packets can be doctored in many ways [I use all of it] and then the egg and ginger just pump it up an extra few notches – protein and crunch. These attributes give this the 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. Excellent stuff Indomie!

#161: Paldo Green Tea Chlorella Noodles

Green tea noodles? Cool – something unique right? Hmmm… When I opened the package I was greeted with the odor of green tea. Yup – the noodles are infused with green tea powder and the odor is very strong.

Two packets – dry soup base and vegetables.

The veggies looked very nice however the powder had a bit of an off odor to it.

Final product (click image to enlarge). I wish the photo showed how green this stuff is. Very strange. Honestly I found this to be some of the worst noodles ever. While It has the amazing power of green tea, the wretched aroma and flavor is enough to make me wretch. I am going to give it 0.0 stars out of 5.0 stars. Sorry Paldo but I really don’t like this one. Get it here.
