#437: Nongshim Big Bowl Spicy Noodle Soup With Kimchi Flavor

Honestly instead of Big Bowl I think these should be marketed as Huge Bowl, but honestly this is about what you would get if you bought a pack of Nongshim Kimchi noodles in a pack, except you would get better quality noodles there. These noodles are built for fast inflating and absorbency.

Only one packet – but like the bowl, it’s really really big.

So the veggies were already in the bowl and it looks like a decent amount of them. The seasoning is a nice reddish color – spicy usually red. The noodles look a little wide and I wonder how they shall taste.

Click image to enlarge. Finished product with a couple fried eggs with a touch of Lindberg-Snider Porterhouse and Roast Seasoning atop the eggs. Okay so the noodles first: lackluster. They were spongy. Kinda bummer. The broth was a smack in the mouth though – spicy goodness! The veggies were very generous which I liked. So my only complaint would be the noodle quality. I’m going to slap it with a 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

#286: Myojo Hyoubanya No Yakisoba Japanese Style Noodles Oriental Flavor

So here’s a nice box of Myojo yakisoba aching to be eaten.

Click image to enlarge. Nice design – fill the water, let it sit, pull off the drain, pour out the water. Pretty easy.

Clockwise from top left: seasoned oil, dry seasoning, garnish and dried vegetables.

The dried vegetables are ample – but all they are is cabbage. Not that I’m really complaining as I’m a friend to cabbage.

So boiling water, sit and drained. Here are the noodles with the remaining packets awaiting a stir. The dark one is the garnish – dried bonito powder, red pickled ginger and green laver – ah, green laver…

So here is the finished product (click image to enlarge). The noodles are decent. The cabbage is ample for sure. The flavor is interesting – the oil and the powder are somewhat subdued by the garnish – which was really decent. I liked it a whole lot and am giving this one 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.

So found another Myojo commercial – surprised they’re so far and few between with how popular they are.

#283: Paldo King Cup Kimchi Pot Stew Instant Noodle

So a big hurking bowl noodle. The only time I’ve ever seen anything this size before when not a fresh udon bowl was the Nissin Souper Meals.  Its 2152mg of sodium and should pack a wallop!

Veggies on the left, soup base on the right.

I’m really pleased – looks like a lot of veggies here! Also the soup base has a nice red color to it.

I have a Prodigy CD that I use to hold down the lids on smallish cup noodles and the like but this required a full 12″ disco Tower of Power vinyl.

Click image to enlarge. Here’s the finished product with two eggs intermingled. I like this a lot. The noodles are firmer and chewier than I expected. The broth is nice – a little spice and a bit on kimchi flavor and the veggies are ample. The two eggs top it off quite nicely. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars on this one – nicely done! Get it here.

#270: Wu-Mu Dried Noodle With BBQ Pork Flavor Sauce

So today’s a downtime today. My lady Kit’s not feeling well and we decided a couple days ago that we would chill and watch Star Trek movies and eat noodles together. That being said, I needed to find some kind of new noodle thing that she night like. Well, BBQ Pork flavor sounded pretty good to me and I thought she’d dig it too.

Yeah so its enough for 4 people. Pretty cheap at around $3 for all of this.

Here are the veggies! Holy cow they are colorful and ample!

So here’s the BBQ pork sauce – thick and black.

Click image to enlarge. The noodles were very chewy – very very chewy indeed! The veggies were nice and the flavoring was alright; just wish there was a bit more of it. I think the marks went down because of the chewiness of the noodles. 2.0 out of 5.0 stars on this one. Sorry Kit!

Here’s a video of hand pulled noodles in Taiwan!

#259: Vina Acecook Mì Lẩu Thái Instant Noodles Seafood Flavor

Here’s some more of the Vina Acecook stuff me and my lovely Kit found at HT Oaktree market last week. Seafood flavor!

Clockwise from top left: seasoned oil, vegetables, soup base and chili powder.

Clockwise from top left: powder soup base, veggies, seasoned oil and chili powder.

Click image to enlarge. I added an egg to the boiling noodles. This was excellent stuff! The noodles are appropriately decent, the broth was spectacular and the vegetables were very nice. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars – looking forward to reviewing more of this Vina Acecook stuff.

#256: Nissin Cup Noodles Shrimp Flavor

So we went to the grocery store and got a bunch of Cup Noodles – at only 25 cents a piece why not, and they haven’t been reviewed yet! So here’s shrimp.

I microwaved the water and put it in it – worked great.

Wow – dehydrated shrimp! I made one for my 5 year old too as we bought two of them on accident!

So this stuff is not too bad (click image to enlarge). My boy said it was “strawberry flavor and tasty delicious!” I liked the inclusion of actual dehydrated shrimp, the noodles were okay, and the veggies were tasty. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here. UPC bar code 070662030028.

#254: Vina Acecook Daily Instant Noodle Hot & Spicy Tom Yum

So on our very recent trip to a new Asian grocery, we found a lot of products by Vina Acecook. So there will be a few reviews by them coming at you fast and furious! First off, some Tom Yum! One thing real quick though – notice on the top of the package label where it says ‘Made With Japanese Technology?’ Didn’t find really anything about the Japanese technology anywhere but did find this sitting in a lonely corner of the web:

From top going clockwise, seasoned oil, powdered soup base, veggies and then paste soup base.

The colors here are very nice. I noticed right away that the veggies didn’t have your standard whiff but more of a herby smell like something you’d find in spaghetti. It was nice and refreshing.

Finished product (click image to enlarge). The noodles are very reminiscent of MAMA’s noodles. They’re seasoned on their own and can be eaten straight. The veggies are reasonably ample and very nice. The broth is perfect. I like how it wasn’t overly hot or overly lemony; it was a perfect balance of the two. Also, it didn’t seem as salty as other Tom Yum instant noodles. I’m going to say that this is the finest Tom Yum flavor instant noodle I’ve sampled yet and give it 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. Truly a pleasant surprise. Get it here.

#249: Unif-100 Artificial Spicy Beef Flavor Instant Noodles

Swore I’d reviewed this before. Well, here’s one from Unif.

From left going clockwise, veggies, powder soup base and oily thick stuff.

Some nice colors here…

Click image to enlarge. I thought an egg would be nice here. Well, it was! A little nip of spiciness to the broth was nice. The veggies were ample and inflated well. The noodles were great and the egg bound it all up nice. I liked it! 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.

#238: Nissin Chow Noodles Tomato & Basil Flavor Ramen Noodles

Chow noodle! Wow this stuff looks interesting. I liked the cheese version… Let’s see how this one tastes eh?

Here are the ample instructions (click image to enlarge).

Seasoning liquid, veggies and powder.

Click image to enlarge. I was actually quite impressed with this one – very tasty! I would actually have no problem eating this regularly. The noodles were nice and there was a lot of veggies going on. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here. UPC bar code 070662087411

Truly amazing – don’t think the above noodles are made exactly the same way but if they were I would be amazed!

#217: Samyang Bowl Noodle Soup Korean Kimchi Flavor

So if you follow my reviews you’d notice that Nongshim makes what looks to be almost the exactly same thing. Weird. But I suppose competition even in the world of instant noodles is fierce. So many varieties of noodles – one must stand out!

So look at the packet. Just one of them. Also, I’ve noticed that all of the Samyang stuff looks suspiciously like the Paldo stuff. Fun? Yum? you decide.

Deep red. Very nice. Color equals tasty. I hope.

I find this to be quite excellent. Ample veggies, a nice spicy broth and good noodles are topped by me with two fried eggs. A great meal. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. Find it here.

#205: Sapporo Ichiban Japanese Style Noodles & Beef Flavored Soup

So now that I’m out of the Nong Shim bowl noodles, here’s something new. This is going to be good – I haven’t had any complaints that I can think of about Sapporo Ichiban’s products.

Single solitary packet.

Pardon the mess around the bowl this time around – I’m refitting an ancient 486 portable computer (luggable) with a working operating system – well, trying to at least. Seems like a very light colored soup base for beef flavor.

Here’s the finished product before…

Click image to enlarge. Yup – the eggs. In fact, it mentioned putting eggs in it on the back as well.  The broth has a great beef flavor – very nice and tasty. The noodles have a good amount of backbone to them and are nice. Just plain nice here. The eggs finish everything off with a good shot of protein and this is some good breakfast chow. I’m very pleased with this one – it is simple and tastes extremely good. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars! Get it here.

#131: Unif-100 Artificial Shallot Chicken Flavor Instant Noodles

So Kit tried the Pork flavor of this line a while back. I thought chicken with shallots sounded quite nice so here we go. I must admit it feels like there’s a lot of pouches in this one!

At the top is the powder, then left is goop and right is veggies.

A lot of flavor stuffs here… The goop looked to be seasoned oil – I even gave it a little taste to see how it was and found it very odd. Kind of reminded me of cold chicken. The powder was ample and the veggies looked sufficient.

Its always interesting to me to see whether a bowl of noodles will be filling or not (click image to enlarge). For example I had Sapporo Ichiban Miso Ramen. Good stuff but really not very filling. This stuff however is. Lots of noodles – like a tighter woven noodle cake. The noodles are plentiful and just a slight cut above cheapo noodles. The broth is nice although it does have a kind of weird aftertaste that I can’t identify except in that I don’t find it exactly appealing. The veggies were decent. I’m going to give this one 3.25 out of 5.0 stars.
