“What’s this? What’s this?’ A famous line from the juggernaut critically acclaimed film Max Max: Beyond Thunderdome, uttered inspiringly by Tina Turner. Well, Auntie Entity, I’ll tell you. There are shelf stable fresh noodle from China. Found them at 99 Ranch Market and figured this would be a good one to start with as there are a few different varieties. I have a good feeling about them – let’s cook.

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle in a pot of water for 2-2.5 minutes. Drain. Add one of each type of sachet to 300ml boiling water. Add noodle. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Here’s the noodle – they feel like fresh ramen noodles.

Two soup base liquid bases.

Two oil sachets.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added eggs, chashu, spring onion, mung bean sprouts, and sesame seed. Noodle was really quite nice – good backbone and chewiness. The broth has a very tasty pork flavor – not tonkotsu; more of a Chinese style stewed pork. Really quite nice and flavorful.
