#4670: Shen Gong Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup - United States

Here’s another one I found at 99 Ranch Market recently. Again, Vietnamese flavor, new Chinese authentic style, and packaged for sale in the United States. It’s almost as if it’s got some kind of flavorful identity crisis! But it sounds interesting so let’s get to it.

Shen Gong Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup – United States

Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add in sachets and boiling water (how much isn’t mentioned) and cover for (not listed but would guess 5 minutes as another by this brand said the same for the same style rice noodle). Finally, stir and enjoy!

Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).

A nest of rice noodle.

A dry sachet of vegetables and powder – at least it sounds like that when I shake it.

A liquid base sachet.

A paste sachet.

A liquid base sachet without the little devil guy.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added mung bean sprouts, crushed red pepper, sesame seed, and scallion. Rice noodle is a great width and comes out quite well in 5 minutes. The broth however is very confusing as the mention of Vietnamese beef noodle soup is so much in the forefront. This has absolutely no reference point to any kind of Vietnamese pho bo I’ve ever seen/heard of – this is Chinese mala rice noodle soup. Very confusing and probably some kind of misprint? I dunno but it just was a ton of oil and strong Sichuan pepper flavor. 1.0 out of 5.0 stars.  EAN bar code 6972704971686.
