I saw these on Amazon recently and though I should contact Maruchan about giving them a try – and they kindly obliged. Thank you! There’s a couple interesting things I’ve noticed that I’ll mention as you scroll down and look at the images and text. With that, let’s check out this, the biggest change I’ve seen to date of the Instant Lunch cup. Actually first, look at the lower left corner. See that? Microwavable – unbeknownst to many, no – you’re not supposed to microwave the foam cups – but these aren’t foam cups.

Detail of the cardboard outer wrap (click to enlarge). Contains chicken. To prepare, fill to line with room temp water and microwave at 1000W for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Look at this – it’s an insulated paper cup!
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Now, I don’t know how many people click to enlarge, but I did notice something interesting here. On the right hand side I see something interesting – Japanese text.
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge). This is an interesting lid as well – it mentions 25% less sodium. This is mentioned most prominently here as opposed to the back of the carboard outer wrap at the bottom in fine print.

Loose seasoning and bits from the cup – it looks like there’s more than usual.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added nothing. The noodle is about identical to the standard Instant Lunch as far as I can tell. The broth has a nice chicken flavor, however it’s on the bland side. As for the vegetables, they all came out perfect. From the corn, to the carrots – and even the peas – not a dry vegetable in the house. A very simple noodle cup, but I figure that’s what it’s trying to be. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 041789008719.
