We have a heat wave here – like it’s going to hit 60 degrees in mid January heatwave – which says one thing to me: get ready for the opposite. Seems like that happens often. But today it’s a review – and then a mukbang. My ten year old son Miles has all of a sudden decided he wants to try Buldak. So, I’ll do the review today and then on the weekend we’ll do the mukbang. It should be noted that the sprinkles that are candy and star shaped make me immediately think of Samyang Popeye snack which also have star shaped sugary bits. This one is a sweet and spicy – let’s give it a go!

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle block 5 1/2 minutes. Drain. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added nothing. The noodle is a nice thick gauge ramyun. Nice chew. The flavor s Buldak sauce yet it is very muted on the spicy side of things. The ‘sprinkles’ add some extra sweetness. It is interesting as it leans more towards tangy and maybe a note of tomato in there. The sprinkles are kind of odd though I must admit; seeming more gimmicky than a really compelling part, however added texture is nice, but then again aside from the crunchy sugar stars, the rest of it is kind of dissuading me from my enjoyment of the dish. It’s interesting and kind of anti-Buldakian, but interesting nonetheless and honestly not bad. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 192699001656.
