#4601: Indomie Hype Abis Mi Kuah Rasa Seblak Hot Jeletot - Indonesia

To begin, thanks to Pher Engi for sending this along with so many untried Indonesian varieties! Seblak Hot Jeletot. I searched and almost immediately found a site familiar to me – minime insights. This guy does market analysis on food trends and new things – he’s mentioned me in the past and I’ve check out his site quite a bit to find out about different products. In his post, he answers a lot of my questions, and leaves me with a little dilemma. First, this is a trending flavor. Second, jeletot turns out to be a Sundanese word (great now I have to figure out that Sundanese is) which means so hot your eyes pop out!

What’s the dilemma? I figured a soft egg would pair well with this, but I definitely don’t see that as a recommendation. Lobster, cockles, mozzarella (!) and a fried street food made from tapioca – I might have mozzarella. Hmm. Well, it’s coming across as an ultra spicy variety and if so, a mukbang will appear below. Either way, I’m enthused. Then I go back and re-read and look at some images of it on an image search and eggs abound! Let’s give it a try!

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle in 400ml water for 3 minutes. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!

Noodles got a bit munched in the post but they’ll do just fine.

Looks like powder soup base on the left and chili powder on the right.

A sachet of seasoned oil.

A solid ingredients sachet.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added egg, crushed red pepper, chicken, and sesame seed. Noodle is much broader than the usual Indomie instant fare. The broth is thin and has an oily characteristic that carries the spiciness. The broth, even after a good stir was tasty and a bit spicy, but I expected a whole lot more. The crackers were certainly a nice touch, but just didn’t satisfy. 2.5 out of 5.0 stars.  EAN bar code 089686043495.
