Here’s what Frank had to say about this one – ‘Menya Itto is a ramen powerhouse located in Tokyo’s Shin-Koiwa area. They’re actually best known for rich, chicken-heavy tsukemen (dipping ramen). But they do fantastic bowls of ramen as well…think of this instant ramen as a ramen spinoff. Just like at their shop, there’s a beautifully rich chicken flavor in the soup. There’s also a pleasant tanginess from the soy sauce seasoning. But what’s most unique is the scallop oil that is mixed in – this takes it to a whole other level!”

Scallop oil? Now we’re talking – let’s give it a try!

An oil sachet.

A powder base sachet.

A garnish sachet with chashu!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added sesame seed, soft egg, mung bean sprouts, spring onion. Noodle was sturdy and had a doll of a chew. The broth was very robust – especially once the scallop oil was added. Just wonderful stuff – very nice taste. Chashu was a nice touch. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars.  JAN bar code 4902105261866.
