This is kind of weird; I’m used to seeing the green lid one of this variety called Midori No Tanuki. But this is in neither a green package or mentioning tanuki, although it’s tanuki soba. Let’s give it a go.
Maruchan Tempura Soba – Japan
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains pork and shrimp. To prepare, add boiling water and sachet contents. Let sit 3 minutes. Stir. Finally, top with disc of tempura and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added spring onion, narutomaki, and sesame seed. Noodles were chewy and addictive. Broth had a sweetness but wasn’t overwhelming. Tempura added very nice texture and flavor. Didn’t expect to like this one much at all. 5.0 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901990368308.
