First off, today I’m doing two reviews – 3842 and 3843. I ran a GoFundMe in February 2021 to help with an emergency situation and for some upgrades around here. Well, one of the upgrades is being used for the first time today! I got a print/scan/copy etc printer. This thing has an 11×17 scanner on it. The old scanner had condesation under the glass and that was affecting quality. This one’s extra nice since I can scan a wide label or package in a single pass without having to do two scans and patch them together! Thank you to all who donated and support the site and what I do!

I got a box from a reader in Montana a little while back (thanks again!) which had a slew of Panda Signature varieties in it he had found at a local Walmart store. That unboxing video garnered a decent amount of attention and people are posting comment after comment on how they dislike these products. There have been some interesting ones on there – of the folks that like Panda Signature, they seem to favor the pork and the soy sauce flavors. One commenter said that the brand that Panda Signature replaced in Walmart had a big COVID outbreak at their factory. Well, the competition has multiple facilities, so it seems doubtful that this is the culprit for the switch. Another commenter was very adamant how the reason for people not liking these was that they were from China and that he would boycott Walmart over that, something I find ridiculous since I would wager over 80 percent of products sold in Walmart stores have been made completely or partially contain parts from China. He mentions how these are ‘Made In PRC’ however there’s no stamp saying that on the packaging. I am going to guess that since these DO have a HALAL stamp mentioning they’ve been certified HALAL by a Malaysian authority, that’s probably where they’re manufactured and shipped from.

As far as actual facts about these, I don’t have a lot to give you, however after contacting the company distributing them, they are doing a reformulation. This means they’re ‘tweaking the secret recipe.’

Long story short, these have become a steady bit of wonder and comment from folks. I really like this kind of thing – makes me want to try more, which I’m doing today. Let’s give this soy sauce flavor a try.

Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil 2 cups water and add noodle block. Cook 3 minutes. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.

A dry sachet of powder soup base.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Chashu, narutomaki, Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chili Crisp, sesame seed, shichimi, and chili oil. Noodles are a slightly thinner than standard variety. The have a decent tooth – I liked them. The broth is kind of like soy sauce with coffee notes as well. It’s not exactly what I would call soy sauce flavor but it’s close. 1.75 out of 5.0 stars.  UPC bar code 850018252430.
