A fellow named Jim C. from Canyon Country, CA dropped me a line a short time ago asking if I was interested in some Indomie stuff. Of course I replied in the affirmative!

#552: Super Bihun Instant Rice Noodles Bihun Kuah Rasa Baso Sapi
Here we go with another of the Super Bihun products – Bihun Kuah Rasa Baso Sapi. Wow – what a name! From having Indomie products many times, I was able to figure out this is meatball flavor. Also, it’s got the little bomb logo on the top left! Awesome!

#500: Mexi-Ramen Soupless Ramen Shallot Teriyaki Flavor
So my in-laws sent me this unique pack from California. My wife’s dad’s co-worker was eating it and so he got one from him and her mom sent it my way! Thank you! I’ve never heard of Mexi-Ramen before this, nor have I seen it anywhere before. I think my first reaction is confusion: Mexi+Teriyaki+Made In Malaysia+Sold in USA = I’m not sure. So not I shall open the package and attempt to relate what that equation’s solution is… And so… Bring on REVIEW NUMBER FIVE HUNDRED!!!
#457: Ibumie Penang Harmee Mee Goreng Prawn Flavour Fried Noodles With Fried Shallots
Lookie here, lookie here! This came from 99 Ranch near Disneyland in California! I’m hoping it’s as good as the Indomie Mie Goreng – possible? I suppose we’ll have to see!Now first off, Indomie is an Indonesian company while Harmee is Malaysian.

IN THE NEWS
Some mention of The Ramen Rater has appeared in print, radio and televised media from time to time. This is where you’ll find it. Well, a lot of it. It’s kind of strange to say, but I get a lot of press about what I do, especially in Southeast Asia – strange to say but definitely humbling.
#405: Ibumie Penang Harimee Prawn Flavour Mi Perisa Udang Instant Noodles
This is a brand new one from Malaysia I found at 99 Ranch today. Looks like it’ll rock!
#357: Payless Xtra Big Kalamansi Pancit Canton
So I have found that I really like this pancit canton – the Payless Xtra Big chilimansi and regular are awesome – so let’s see if the lime one is rockin’!
#343: Super Bihun Goreng Instant Fried Rice Noodles
This is definitely the most unique of all the packages of noodles I have ever found. Let’s get started.
#339: Payless Xtra Big Chilimansi Pancit Canton
So I’ve been waiting for a good time to try this stuff and today seemed the right time. My 5 year old stuck his headf in the ramen box and picked it out for me. I have so many and its so hard to pick that I often ask family to pick the one I’m going to have – and usually after they pick once or twice I agree to the one the pick the third time.
TOP TEN INSTANT NOODLES 2011/2012
These are the top ten of the varieties I have reviewed thus far. It was originally released on Foodiggity.com on January 9th, 2012 as an exclusive guest post I did. Now, here it is on The Ramen Rater for your perusal with links to all of the corresponding reviews! Enjoy!
The New Ramen Box
So my old Indomie Meatball flavor box just didn’t cut it, so my beloved brought me a new one!
Ramen Rater Stats fot 2010
The stats helper monkeys at WordPress.com mulled over how this blog did in 2010, and here’s a high level summary of its overall blog health:
#140: MAMA Mi Goreng Oriental Style Instant Noodles
So one of my favorite all time noodles is Indomie Mi Goreng Satay. I was very pleased to see that there was a new Mi Goreng out there – at least new to me.
#537: MAMA Instant Noodle Pad Kee Mao Flavour (Drunken Noodles)
MAMA Pad Kee Mao… The pack is shiny and shows a seriously elaborate dish… Not really much of anything in English on this one.
#106: GreeNoodle Tom Yum Flavor
So today here’s review #98 – the weird GreeNoodle… These noodles contain some kind of weird ingredient called moroheiya. “Moroheiya is a super vegetable that is more nutritious than spinach, carrots, or borccoli in most aspects” is written on the back and cite as a quote by the ‘Japanese Ministry.’ although which Ministry that would be is unclear to me.
MEASURING
So one thing I’ve found is that sometimes it isn’t exactly logical what is printed on the back of noodle packaging so maybe I can help. For example, I’ve had packs say 400cc of water followed by saying that 400cc of water is 1 1/2 cups of water, but another one says its about 2 cups of water. 400cc of water is 1.7 cups. Closer to 1 1/2 cups I guess. I look at it as being a kind of how flavorful do you want it kind of thing. Then again, you can always use this calculator to convert cubic centimeters [cc’s] into cups. I like going this route…

#94: MAMA Artificial Chicken Flavour Oriental Style Instant Noodles
Okay so first off, here we go with the MAMA noodles. I really didn’t expect to like these but what can I say – not too bad. Mi Ga it says on the top left – Ga means chicken in Vietnamese – I know that much. Interesting as this is a Thai product.
#93: Payless Pancit Canton Xtra Big Original Flavor
So here’s something new. I’ve been avoiding it a bit as I wasn’t sure if I really would like it. But I remembered I’m the ramenrater, fearing no ramen and all that crap so here it is. The big one. My review’s preview is simple (think of this said with an extremely strong hwhuh sound on each word) Hwow – this stuff hwas hwonderful and I hwould eat is daily.
#78: Nissin Demae Ramen Seafood Flavor Instant Noodle
Seeing things like this make me want to break out into a musical number like Peter does on Family Guy. Nothing more lovely than a huge mountain of instant noodles. I really enjoy seeing such things. Today, I got an extra ingredient for dinner, but I’m also going to toss it in the instant noodles too so we’ll see if it works.
ABOUT ME
Since my previous About Me text (which can be found below) was something I wrote up in 2012, I thought perhaps it was time to update things around here. We’ll start at the beginning.
#71: Nissin Demae Ramen Satay Flavor Instant Noodles
So I liked the Indomie Mi Goreng Satay flavor – this should be good.
Two flavor packets! Not too shabby!
Homemade Multi-Cultural Noodles
I’m a big fan of instant noodles – such a big fan that I started www.ramenrater.com to review different varieties. Of all things ramen, I’ve come up with this homemade noodle recipe, taking ingredients from all over the far east and orient.
#16: Samyang Kalgug-Su (Spicy)
Samyang: Kalgug-Su (Spicy)
Stars: *** 1/2
Notes: A very good package of noodles. This one took quite a bit of looking around to find out what brand/type it is. So the noodles are very much like Indomie’s special – but they are VERY wide – wide as egg noodles! Was a great bowl of soup with the
only exception being that it had some dehydrated mushrooms in it that were
extremely foul. I thought since the name Kalgug sounded like an overture to regurgitation, that word must refer to the mushrooms.
More about the old
So first a bit about one of my favorites and one of my nemeses. First, Indomie Jumbo BBQ Chicken instant noodles. This stuff is a perfect example of well thought out noodles, in that they have a few packets in there for more preparation fun, and there’s a lot of noodles. These are of the five star ilk, but I have but one complaint about them: unless you eat them quickly, after you cook ’em, they dry out and get frumpy and obstinate on the fork.
