A big thanks to The Fat Hipster for sending this my way. Yep – banana. That’s bananas. Well, it works for me – that sounds bizarre and IU like bizarre in a sea of just plain chicken varieties on the market. I expect cries of ‘dude I need to try this – where can I get it?’ Book a flight to China or spend a lot of money is my guess. This one seems to be made in South Korea, however it’s China-exclusive. There will of course be a cooking vid and a mukbang below. Let us delve into bananamonium.
Samyang Buldak Spicy Banana Ramen – China

Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle for 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Drain completely. Add sachet contents and combine. Finally, sprinkle contents of flake sachet on top and enjoy!

An instant noodle block.

A liquisd base sachet.

My guess is this is banana flavor powder, probably akin to that in bubble tea.

Banana sprinkles.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added fried plantain chips. The noodle was really quite nice – thick and chewy. The flavor certainly was as expected; that Laffy Taffy, bubble tea banana sugary sweetness that kind of tastes like banana in a confectionary sense, much in the way watermelon bubblegum doesn’t really taste exactly like watermelon, although it’s watermelon flavor if that makes sense. The heat level was about a third of the original Buldak. The flavor of Buldak sauce and the banana really worked decently together. This doesn’t seem like a daily driver for most though, and definitely a unique novelty. That being said, it couldve been done much worse and it is palatable. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.
