#2236: Maruchan Gotsumori Koku Tonkotsu Ramen

Here’s another one sent to me by Javier from Box From Japan. Box From Japan has subscriptions for all sorts of neat Japanese things. I regret to say that I was informed that they won’t be taking subscriptions for their ramen boxes for now – hopefully that will start again soon. He mentioned that you can purchase instant noodles from them here. Here’s what he had to say about this particular variety:

Noodle: Medium-fine fried noodles. Entangles the soup very well, so it is full of volume and filling. Soup: Thick pork bone based soup that is both smooth and rich. It doesn’t give o the odor of pork bone, but gives the dish enough flavor so you want to enjoy the soup as well. Ingredients: Sesame seed, flavored minced chicken meat, fried garlic, Jew’s ear, green onion.

Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains pork and chicken. To prepare, add contents of dry sachets and fill to line with boiling water. Cover and let steep with liquid sachet on lid for 3 minutes. Add in contents of liquid sachet. Stir and enjoy!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, hard boiled egg, baked chicken, chashu pork belly and nanami togarashi. The noodles were very plentiful and had a nice gauge and chew. They just seemed like your standard instant. The broth, however, was extremely good. Definitely a hit of chicken along with the pork taste and a really good thickness to the broth. It was a good oiliness as well. The included garnish of the sesame seeds, spring onion and meat were excellent and hydrated very well. 4.25 out of 5.0 stars.  JAN bar code 4901990325561.
