#2206: Nissin Deka Buto Kuro M-yu Tonkotsu

Here’s another one sent to me by Javier from Box From Japan. Box From Japan has subscriptions for all sorts of neat Japanese things. I regret to say that I was informed that they won’t be taking subscriptions for their ramen boxes for now – hopefully that will start again soon. He mentioned that you can purchase instant noodles from them here. Here’s what he had to say about this particular variety:

Large portion of intensely flavored thick noodles that you’ll get totally hooked on. Noodles: Straight, thick noodles. Texture is smooth and a bit hard. Soup: Thick pig feet soup with a black sesame oil aroma. The noodles mix well in this soup. Ingredients: Ground beef, toasted sesame seeds, chives, and red chili pepper.

Sounds interesting – let’s check it out!

The noodle block.

Loose ingredients from the bottom of the bowl.

The dry soup base sachet.

A very light powder.

The liquid base.

Interesting scent.

Finished (click to enlarge). The noodles are thick and have a really great chewiness to them – really good stuff! The broth is a rich pork tonkotsu, and the augmentation of the hamburger and vegetables are really impressive. It’s quite tasty and premium – wouldn’t have expected hamburger as a tonkotsu garnish would be so good! 4.75 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4902105238479.
