Here’s another one from a friend in Indonesia – thanks! I got some really cool new varieties from Indofood last week, but I’d better get a few older varieties out of the way before those! Shouldn’t be long! Let’s check out this rice vermicelli soup variety from their Pop Bihun line.
Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, add rice vermicelli block and solid ingredients to 400cc boiling water and cook for 2 minutes. Put the remaining sachet contents in a bowl. After the 2 minutes, pot the contents of the pot into the bowl and stir. Eat.
The rice vermicelli block.
A dual sachet: soup base on left and chilli powder on right.
Chilli powder atop soup base powder.
Solid ingredients sachet.
Finally the seasoning oil sachet.
Has a nice onion infused scent.
Finished (click image to enlarge). Added leeks, Fresno chilli peppers, chicken, lime, hard boiled egg and BonCabe Level 10 chilli seasoning. The noodles are thin and light – just as they should be. They have a nice texture. The broth is wonderful and I think probably the best thing I could imagine smelling if I had a cold. A strong lime scent with lots of interesting exotic notes along with a nice chicken and onion kind of roundedness. This is quite nice and very pleasant. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.
