#2224: Wai Wai X-press Flavour Of Pizza In Noodles Proprietary Food

I want to send a huge thank you to Marvin R. of Texas for sending me this – the second pizza flavored instant noodle I’ve EVER reviewed! The first one was from Pakistan – this one’s from India! Not only that, but this one’s a proprietary food! Let’s check it out!

The import sticker (click to enlarge).

Here’s the back of the package (click to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. to prepare, add noodles and sachet contents to 2 cups boiling water. Cook for 2 minutes. Stir and enjoy!

The noodle block (cracked).

The dry seasoning base.

Has an interesting scent.

An oil sachet.

A thick oil.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Hormel Turkey Pepperoni, sliced black olive, coriander and shredded mozzarella cheese. The noodles had a nice way about them – a light crumble and good gauge; definitely from India. The broth has a little thickness to it and a flavor that made me think of the herbs and spices one would add to pizza sauce along with a peppery component. It was fascinating and quite good! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.  EAN bar code 8906013030671.

#10: Mama Instant Noodles Moo Nam Tok Flavour

MAMA Instant Noodles Moo Nam Tok

Added mint leaf, green nira, coriander, lettuce, and sauteed pork, red bell pepper, sweet onion and garlic with a dash of soy sauce. The noodles came out just perfectly as they usually do – they don’t get too full of water and have a very nice gauge and feel. The broth has a spicy and heavily spiced flavor with some heat to it – very rich and strong flavors. I liked it a lot Original review

#9: Wai Wai Quick Zabb Tom Yum Shrimp Flavour Instant Noodles

WaiWai Quick Zabb Tom Yum Instant Noodle

Added shrimp, fishball, sliced green onion, bell pepper, sweet onion and lime. The noodles are just right for tom yum with a nice texture and crumble. The broth is a slap in the face of strong spiciness and has a very nice citrus and shrimp flavor as well. The spiciness is almost ‘crisp,’ if that makes sense. Original review

#8: Little Cook Instant Noodles Shrimp Tom Yum Flavour Cup

Little Cook Instant Noodles Tom Yum Cup

Added mung bean sprouts, shrimp and coriander. The noodles were thin as you would expect in most cups with a bit of a crumble to them. The broth was extremely good – everything was there – heat, lemongrass and a good flavor. Original review

#7: Mama Instant Cup Noodles Seafood Pad Kee Mao Flavour Cup

MAMA Extreme Pad Kee Mao Instant Noodles Cup

Added coriander, sliced squid, mung bean sprouts, sweet onion, shrimp, seafood flavored tofu and Jane’s Krazy Mixed Up Pepper seasoning. The noodles are thin and light with a decent little bounce to them. They aren’t like the ones you’d experience in MAMA Tom Yum packs that are pre-seasoned with a nice crumble, but different. The flavor is really quite good and can be summed as kind of a sweet seafood taste with a great bite of spiciness and then this lingering flavor from the holy basil. It’s got a really different flavor I wish was present more often instant noodle varieties. The dehydrated carrot and seafood hydrated very nicely. This was a very pleasant surprise! Original review

#6: Yum Yum Premier Bowl Instant Noodles Suki Flavour

YumYum Suki Instant Noodles Premier Bowl

Added green Thai chillies from Dwayne B., Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, boiled pork for hot pot, carved squid, white onion, coriander, tofu puff, lime and Sriraja Panich Chilli Sauce from Michael over at EastLand Foods. The noodles hydrated well with a hint of crumble that works. The broth is fascinating; it has a kind of lime and tamarind kind of flavor to it with a little heat and garlic as well. The retort pouch had some nice pork and little balls which reminded me of fishball which really added a lot of nice texture and flavor. Original review

#5: Mama Instant Rice Noodle Soup Spicy Shrimp Flavour

MAMA Tom Yum Goong Spicy Shrimp Rice Noodles

Added coriander, fish ball, white onion and mung bean sprouts. The noodles are very good – broad in nature and light in chew. They’re slippery, so I found that using kitchen scissors to make a couple crosscuts through the mass of noodles in the pot made them easier to navigate. The broth is really good – has a spicy and lemongrass flavor with a nice shrimp hit, plus a nice sweetness as well I wasn’t expecting. The little shrimp are in there as well, which hydrated quite nicely. Very pleased with this one Original review

#4: Yum Yum Jumbo Instant Noodles Tom Yum Kung Creamy Flavour

Yum Yum Jumbo Tom Yum Kung Creamy Instant Noodles

Added shrimp, fish balls, mung bean sprouts, lime and coriander. The noodles are very nice – thin and have a very light chew with just the faint hint of crumble to them. The broth is amazingly good – spicy, lemongrass, shrimp and a beautiful color to boot. Original review

#3: Mama Instant Noodles Shrimp Creamy Tom Yum Flavour

MAMA Shrimp Creamy Tom Yum

Added shrimp, Thai chillies, mung bean sprouts, white onion and coriander. The noodles hydrated very nicely, with that trademark gauge and slight crumble that MAMA noodles always have. The broth is spectacular – brilliant looking and with a slightly sweet, spicy, lemongrassy, shrimpy, creamy balance that’s just superb. Love this stuff! Original review

#2: Mama Instant Noodles Yentafo Tom Yum Mohfai

MAMA Instant Noodles Tom Yum Mohfai Yentafo

Added fish balls, sweet onion, Fresno chilli pepper and green onion. The noodles are the standard ‘brown noodle’ that MAMA makes – they have a bit of seasoning and have a firm yet agreeably crumbly texture. The broth has a light spiciness and sweetness to it with just a skosh of heartiness from the oil that works perfectly. I was extremely pleased with this one – extremely. Original review

#1: Mama Oriental Style Instant Noodles Green Curry Flavour

MAMA Instant Noodles Green Curry

Added shrimp, green nira, mung bean sprouts and coriander. The noodles are thin and plentiful with a good texture and chewiness. The broth has a really nice heat to it and more than I expected. The flavor is a very nice green curry. Excellent! Original review

#1807: Wai Wai Tom Yum Goong Flavour Instant Noodle

Here’s one I found at the 7-11 next to our hotel when we visit Thai President Foods in Bangkok back in May! I think the first time I tried a tom yum flavored instant, I didn’t like it. Through the years, I’ve gained a serious love for the flavor – the chilli, the shrimp, the lemongrass. It all comes together so well and the place where I had some of the best of course was in Thailand. Really hope to return someday with my sons and have them try all the amazing foods there! Anyways, let’s check out this cup!

Detail of the side panels (click image to enlarge). Contains shrimp. To prepare, empty sachets into the cup and add boiling water to ‘top of noodles.’ Let steep for 2 minutes. Stir and enjoy!

Detail of the lid (click image to enlarge).

An included fork!

The noodle block.

A dual sachet: powder on the left and paste on the right.

A granular powder.

A deep colored paste.

The vegetable and shrimp sachet.

A nice little mix.

Finished (click image to enlarge). The noodles hydrated most of the way in the two minutes of steeping, but really ended up kind of crumbly – more so than I like. The broth very good and hit all the marks I like in a tom yum. The shrimp was very nice and bits of vegetable were also top notch. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8850100005137.

#1797: Wai Wai Instant Rice Vermicelli Crab Flavour

Here’s another one my sister got for me while up in Canada a couple of weeks ago! Thanks, Sue! I’ve been really hoping to try more rice vermicelli lately but been having trouble sourcing any from around here and hoping to find some manufacturer who might want me to review some of their stuff! The top ten rice noodles list this year was a lot of fun and definitely want to make it a yearly kind of thing! Anyways, let’s check out these crab flavored noodles from Thailand!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, put everything in a bowl. Add in 380ml boiling water and cover for 3 minutes. Stir and enjoy!

The chilli powder atop the soup base.

The rice vermicelli hydrated alright, but was a little on the dry side. I cut them with kitchen scissors as usually to make them easier to eat. The broth is nice – has a spicy and sweet crab flavor and a nice garlic oiliness. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8850100205032.

#1492: Wai Wai Quick Zabb Tom Yum Shrimp Flavour Instant Noodles

Usually if I’m really trying to get my hands on some noodles to review, I’m going to find a way. There have been a couple though which have eluded me for a while. This is one of them – Wai Wai’s Quick Zabb. There are four of these varieties, all with a different main color and different character. They’re kind of like Powerpuff Girls, but a little meaner looking. I’m stoked – got all four at a store only 5 minutes away yesterday! Sometimes walking down that noodle aisle you’ve been down a million times before with no luck pays off. Let’s check it out!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Contains shrimp. to prepare, add noodles and contents of dual sachet into a bowl and add 320ml boiling water. cover for 2 minutes. Stir and enjoy!

The noodle block.

A dual sachet: dry seasoning on the left and seasoned oil on the right.

Has a tom yum kind of scent.

Has a light garlic scent.

Finished (click image to enlarge). 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8850100101075.

Here it is for sale on Amazon.

Wai Wai Quick Zabb is sponsoring a contest for best cover of this band’s song. I’m not sure if the band is called Tatoo, or if the song is called Tatoo.

#944: Wai Wai Brand Oriental Style Instant Noodles (Dry Version)

I reviewed this one years back – in the first 50 reviews. Back then I reviewed it as a soup. Recently, it was brought to my attention that these could be made in a different way – drained. Sure enough, on the back of the package are instructions on how to make them this way. I have deemed this worthy of a new review! Here we go.

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge).

Here’s the noodle block in all of its pre seasoned glory.

Here’s the dry seasonings. Top, we have chili powder and below the dry seasoning mixture.

Here’s the seasoning mixture topped with the chili powder.

The oil packet.

This one has a strong onion scent – very nice.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added a couple fried eggs and some turkey with some Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake and Huy Fong Sriracha chili sauce and stir fry veggies. The noodles are pretty good – chewy and plentiful. The flavoring is very strong – hot, salty and full of flavor. 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 8850100101105 – get it here.

A really odd Wai Wai commercial.

Another strange Wai Wai ad!

#915: Wai Wai Casserole Beef Flavour Oriental Style Instant Noodle

Here’s something new I found at H Mart. Casserole huh? Beef sounds good. By the way – underneath the sticker on the front it says ‘Beef Flavour.’ Let’s check it out.

Here’s the sticker the distributor puts on.

I really had a time scanning the back of the package. Inverting the colors had the best effect (click to enlarge).

Very thin, crunchy and tasty noodles at this point!

Powder on the left, oil on the right.

An interesting beef and slight sugary taste.

The oil has a strong onion scent.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added some stir fry veggies, onion, thin sliced rib eye, kizami shoga (pickled ginger), Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake and some green onions. The noodles are neat – thin, sort of crumbly and have a nice flavor. The broth is very light; almost bland. Has a good beef taste to it though. all in all, pretty good – 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 8850100002488.

A Wai Wai commercial.

Sounds from the game Wai Wai World for the original Nintendo Entertainment System.

#833: Wai Wai Instant Vegetarian Noodle

I can’t even imagine how long ago I last reviewed anything from Wai Wai – pretty stoked on it! Let’s try seom Thai noodles!

The export sticker.

A little pack uses less water – only 350cc! Click image to enlarge.

The noodle block – very tasty noodles when uncooked too!

Chili powder on the left, soup base on the right.

Oil packet.

A little bit of oil.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some scrambled egg and Krazy Mixed Up Salt. The noodles are different than most. They’re pre-seasoned with a nice sesame hint to them. They are also not chewy – they’re very very thin and light for wheat flour noodles. The broth is nice – not overly salty and has a very strong heat to it. A nice little meal! 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 8850100101099 – get it here.

A Wai Wai commercial

This is quite nice to listen to I thought. Nothing like a little 8bit music during a bowl of noodles!

#276: Wai Wai Chilli Paste Tom Yum Flavour Instant Noodles

So here’s the second one of these Wai Wai packsI got recently. Says it’s very hot!

Left is powder, right is chilli paste!

Here they sit atop the tasty brick of noodles.

Finished product (click image to enlarge). I really liked the noodles – they were tasty and just right. The broth wasn’t bad either – citrus, some gritty spices and of course, some heat. I’m not going to say it was blow your face off hot by any means but those not keen on hot foods should probably skip the chilli paste altogether. All in all, I like it. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars – could’ve used something more, not sure what.
