The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2020 Edition

Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups OF All Time 2020 Edition

After years of resisting the common practice of naming these lists after the year ahead, I’ve finally decided I’d conform with societal norms and start doing this with this list. So, there won’t be a 2019 edition (although between you and me that’s what this is as it’s coming out in 2019 and not 2020, but whatever). All lists going forward will be this way. My brain will be okay with it eventually, kind of like how I used to lose my mind when people would pronounce sriracha ‘sirracha,’ which IS the correct way to do s. Time heals all chunks of illogic I suppose. But anyways, these are my favorite and most memorable cup varieties from my reviews up to number 3,180. Let’s take a look at The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2020 Edition.

Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups OF All Time 2020 Edition

Part of their Intensos spicy range, Nissin Mexico brings Alitas Hot – ho wings flavor. The heat level is very tame, however the flavor is off the charts with a very tasty grilled chicken taste. A really nice surprise in this one – worth a try. Original review

#8: MyKuali Penang Red Tom Yum Goong Noodle Authentic Taste – Malaysia

A show stopper, this variety has a super savory broth which is thick and flavorful. Strong tomato and lemongrass notes are present and couples with a great noodle and vegetables sachet. Tastes almost identical to tom yum I tried in Langkawi. Original review

#7: Nissin Cup Noodle Nice Rich Pork Shoyu (New Version) – Japan

This low calorie cup is not low on flavor. A different kind of noodle which has a very good mouthfeel is couples with a strong broth and included garnish which are second to none. At 176 calories for the cup, it makes one wonder why they don’t make all Cup Noodle varieties with this style noodle. Original review

Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups OF All Time 2020 Edition

While other images in this list show the product with additions I’ve made, this one does not. What you see is what you get, and you get a seriously wonderful thing here. A vibrant prawn broth with Mexican flavor, ample garnish (including those reasonably sized shrimp there) and great noodles come together in this one. An absolutely incredible topper to this list. The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2017 Edition

Instant noodle cups – so portable, so ubiquitous. They’re everywhere! People seem to really like them for lunch. I’ve found that people also like to take them when backpacking or camping – all you need is hot water and once done, you can flatten them so it’s easy to pack out your trash. These convenient meals have come a long way since their inception – many flavors and countries of origin. This list is a compilation of my favorite instant noodle cups from the over 2,500 instant noodle reviews I’ve done to date.

The flavor was just great too – the white powder turned into a sauce with perfect thickness and quantity – and it tasted like an alfredo sauce. This was just plain awesome. Original review

#4: MyKuali Penang Red Tom Yum Goong Noodle Authentic Taste – Malaysia

#4: MyKuali Penang Red Tom Yum Goong Noodle Authentic Taste – Malaysia - The Ramen Rater - instant noodle cups

The noodles have a very light chew and a different mouthfeel. While I wasn’t entirely satisfied with this new style of noodle in the White Curry cup, this works very nicely with the tom yum. The broth is a tour de force of strong flavors – spicy, lemongrass pucker and a really nice balance of shrimp and vegetable taste. Original review

#3: Mamee Chef Curry Laksa Flavour – Malaysia

#2: MyKuali Penang Hokkien Prawn Noodle Authentic Taste – Malaysia - The Ramen Rater - instant noodle cups

The noodles are soft and have a kind of dark tan color to them. The broth here is like you died and went to prawn mee heaven. It’s thick, oily, spicy and tasty. It’s just awesome stuff, and then they go and include those awesome fried onions. The only thing is the bustling of motorbikes and people talking at the hawker court. Original review

#1: Nissin Cup Noodles Gourmet Sabor A Caldo De Camaron – Mexico

#1: Nissin Cup Noodles Gourmet Sabor A Caldo De Camaron - Mexico - The Ramen Rater - instant noodle cups

So the noodles came out great in the microwave – flat and thin with a nice light tooth. Indeed the broth was a show stopper – a great Mexican shrimp broth with a rich flavor and light heat. Moreover, it has a sweetness I’ve only seen in Southeast Asian variants previously. The shrimp that are included are among some of the largest I’ve seen in an instant noodle – not only did they hydrate perfectly but they’re of good quality as well. The other bits of garnish supplied such as cabbage, carrot and other things round everything out and give the cup an excellent premium feel. In conclusion, this was absolutely wonderful stuff and I am seriously impressed – best of the instant noodle cups to date. Original review

The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups Of All Time 2016 Edition

This is the fourth Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups list I’ve done since 2013 and I just looked at the first one – none of them are still on this list! I will say one thing though – the ones on the 2013 list are all really good too. It’s hard picking a list to be honest; maybe a top fifty? Naw – ten is enough. Maybe when I’ve done 5000 reviews a top fifty might be in order. But for now, here’s the best of the best – my absolute favorite cup varieties from the 2,100+ reviews I’ve done.

Here’s this year’s The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups video.

#10: Nongshim Kimchi Flavor Noodle Soup – United States

As it says on the package, it come out the microwave very hot. By the time it was cool enough to sample, the noodles were perfect – good gauge and chew. The broth had a very tasty kimchi taste – bright and lively with that nice tanginess and heat I enjoy. The vegetables were abundant and well hydrated. Original review

#9: MAMA Cup Yentafo Tom Yum Mohfai – Thailand

The noodles have the standard wonderful gauge and chew of the noodles that are in MAMA cups. They have a nice texture and flavor to them. The broth is great – a nice color, spiciness and flavor that is a little sweet and very unique. Original review

#8: Nissin Cup Noodle Light+ Cheese Fondue – Japan

My first thought is wow. So the noodles come out very nicely – light chew and nice gauge. These noodles are different from the standard Cup Noodle. The broth is sensational; it’s very thick and has a very nice cheese taste as well as a layered and rich vegetable flavor which is not only savory but has very gourmet notes to it. I’m finding cabbage and red bell pepper as well as sweet carrot and potatoes. This is really great – and that it’s a light variety is mind boggling as it’s full of flavor and doesn’t skimp on anything. Original review
