The Chocolate Break Cracks Open Tokyo Treat March 2019!
Today we have a Zenpop.JP variety – so what’s Zenpop? They’re a subscription service for all things Japanese! Definitely, check them out. By the way, use coupon code RAMENRATER to get $2 off! Here’s what they had to say about this one –
“Delicious to eat, fun to look at. This bowl contains cute Pikachu naruto (fish cakes) inside. The creamy soup is seasoned with seafood, pork and chicken. Gotta eat it all! (It’s easy ’cause it’s small.)’
Well then, let’s check out this little Pikachu noodle cup from Japan!
Sapporo Ichiban Pokemon Seafood Noodles – Japan
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains pork, chicken and seafood. To prepare, take out little bonus thingy and add boiling water to line. Cover for 3 minutes. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Loose bits from the cup including little Pikachu fishcake.
A collectible Pokemon thingy.
Here it is (click to enlarge). A little disc that isn’t cardboard but is slightly more rigid than paper. Looks like you can collect lots of them. I should also mention – in Japan, Pokemon is referred to as Pocket Monsters.
Finished (click to enlarge). Noodles are alright – not really amazing or anything since the focus of this product is Pokemon. The broth is a salty and buttery seafood taste which was quite good with the noodle. Bits of corn hydrated well and the abundant fishcake was fun to eat. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. Got a package the other day from reader Abbie C. of Hong Kong! She offered to see if she could send a couple things I’ve been looking for: Hello Kitty and Pokemon branded noodle products. As I’ve said before, my wife likes Hello Kitty and my son is aPokefanatic!
Very well packed, I must say!
Wow, cool! She sent a couple of Doll brand Hello Kitty Curry Cups! No Pokemon found though, but she sent my son an Ultraman mini-cup noodle! Ooh – cheese curry too – that’s something I’ve really wanted to try! Thank you very much Abbie! Stickers will be coming your way!
Here’s another one from the folks at Record China news in Japan – thank you! My son is a really big fan of Pokemon. He’s got every one’s name, what they evolve into and all Pokemon lore stuffed in that PokeDex brain of his! If any of you reading have kids that like Pokemon, you know of what I speak. Well, I’ve wanted to get some Pokemon noodles for him and this is the first! I know there are more out there and hopefully I’ll find them sooner or later! Let’s check it out!
Here’s the lid (click image to enlarge) – note the little Pikachu and Tepig kamaboko!

A little bonus?
A little trading piece! Andy has informed me that the Pokemon on the front is called Glaceon, the ‘fresh snow’ Pokemon. It’s an ice type and evolves from Eevee. It’s from the Sinnoh region, but Eevee is from Kanto region.
The noodle block.
Here’s all the seasoning and solid ingredients from the bottom of the cup. Pretty rad kamaboko!
Here’s the Pokemaniac himself! Also got a neat little Pokemon bowl from the Record China folks – it’s smaller than expected but it’s definitely fun!
Finished (click image to enlarge). Unadulterated. The noodles are pretty decent actually – thin, noodles in a cup fare that had been pre-seasoned. Not top of the line but far from bottom of the barrel. The broth is nice – soy sauce flavor with nice rounded flavor. The corn and green onion’s alright and the kamaboko? Well, it’s a little on the rubbery side, but that’s how kamaboko is honestly. I would say they’re on the better than most side of dehydrated kamaboko. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 4901734016458.
[AMAZONPRODUCTS asin=”B000WD3XBI”]We got Andy one of these and he’s been playing with them for a long time. It’s a really good deal even if there are duplicates, since the cards at the store are pretty expensive. It saddens me that they don’t put that crappy bubble gum we used to get in baseball cards anymore.[/AMAZONPRODUCTS]
I did an interview with a news agency in Japan recently called Record China –

They sent a box of amazing goodies from Japan I’ve been hoping to finbd for a while!
Whoa what’s all in here? Let’s have a looksie…
Here’s a couple of books I will be reviewing soon! They’re by tontantin. Never heard of him? He’s done way more instant noodle reviews than me – 5,170 so far! We have completely different backgrounds – sometimes our scores are the same, sometimes not. Really happy to get these!
Cup Noodle Curry – with a Gundam model kit? Yessirree! Robotic battle suits and curry noodles – can’t beat that combo!
I have been hunting high and low for anything Hello Kitty for my wife Kit for a long time – and this bowl has an added bonus!
You get a bowl to keep when you’re done with your noodles!
My son is a Pokemon fanatic. Here’s a noodle cup that has little pieces of kamaboko that look like pikachu! No joke! This will be fascinating to review!
Finally, a little bowl that has pokemon on it – known as ‘Pocket Monsters’ in Japan. Thank you to Mira and everyone at Record Japan!!
