#1005: Four Seas Chicken Flavour Instant Noodles

Here’s another one from my wife and I’s trip to Canada for my birthday! Only had a Four Seas instant once before – my sister had brought it back from Canada for me – see a theme here? Let’s check out this chicken big bowl.

A fork!

This one’s got two bricks of noodles in the big cup!

Powder seasoning.

Has a strong smell.

Liquid packet.

Has a odor of chicken gravy almost.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added broccoli, green bell pepper, sweet onion, baked chicken and Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are amazingly plentiful, but rather spongy and weak with very little resistance or chewiness. The broth has a nice ton of chicken flavor but also has a really artificial taste – which is odd seeing as in the ingredients that actual chicken powder and chicken ‘oil’ are present. 2.75 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 4892616018908.

This is really fascinating – check it out!

#778: Mamee Express Cup Curry Flavour

Here’s a little curry cup from Mamee. My sis brought it back to me from Canada earlier this year.

Here’s the side panel – excuse the snipping (click image to enlarge).

The lid (click image to enlarge).

Noodles…

The solitary packet.

Hooray for curry! Smells good.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added some onion and a little Daesang Gochujang. The noodles are pretty bad. The curry flavoring was pretty good in the broth, although it left me wanting more – much more. 2.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 9555022301228 .

That looks like a long fall – kids, don’t try this at home

#679: Mamee Express Cup Fried Onion Chicken Flavour

Here’s another one my sister got me for my birthday! Here’s a brand I’ve never seen before – Mamee. It’s from Malaysia! Let’s have a look!

Here’s the info on the distributor’s sticker.

Here’s the side (click image to enlarge).

…and the top info (click image to enlarge).

This is the coolest fork ever – you pull it apart and it clicks!

See? Rad!

Powder seasoning packet.

Seasoned oil.

Here’s everything awaiting the boiling water.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Let’s see… The noodles are indeed plentiful – and not too shabby. The broth is chickenish – not too bad. The veggies are passable. This isn’t anything really to write home about, then again it isn’t a bad cup of noodles. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 9555022301242 .

Slrrrp Curry!

Malaysian Mamee commercial

Or was it from Myanmar?

#631: Fashion Food XO Sauce Flavour Instant Noodles

Here’s another one that’s been needing a quick review. This was purchased in July of last year in California!

Some side panel stuff – was really hard to get pics of this one. Click image to enlarge.

Open it up and all this stuff inside! Included fork!!!

A couple of packets…

Ready for boiling water…

Finished (click image to enlarge). The noodles are lackluster and boring, sad to say. The broth was just funky; like they wanted it to go a certain way but it just wouldn’t cooperate so they ingredient guy said screw it, threw up his hands and said “XO flavor.” Hmm…  1.25 out of 5.0 stars. UPC barcode 8850412371876 .

Completely unrelated noodle advert.

Very weird – apparently ‘fashion food’ is popular…

#307: Royal Umbrella Vegetarian Tom Yum Instant Cup Noodle

A cup noodle from Thailand that isn’t MAMA brand? Well, let’s give it a try. This company is better known for rice products.

Here’s the lid…

The only packet inside is hot chili paste.

So the seasoning is in the noodles as is the veggies.

Click image to enlarge. Finished product. The noodles are your standard no frills cup noodles. The broth is salty with a nice light vegetable flavor and a little heat, and there’s a decent amount of veggies. I’m giving this one a 2.75 out of 5.0 stars. It’s okay but doesn’t have much of the citrus flavor I’m used to with a tom yum and just doesn’t captivate me.

#299: Lucky Me! Supreme Sotanghon Artificial Chicken Flavor Instant Vermicelli Soup

So here’s the third Sotanghon flavored instant noodles I’ve tried – the others weren’t really my thing. Hopefully I like this one a bit!

So here we have a silver packet of dry powder seasoning, a ridiculous little fork – its just far too small to be of any use I think… Then some seasoning sauce (looks like an oil) and maybe fried onions.

Looks like very little onion for all the liquid that’s going to be around it – but let’s giver a try!

The finished product (click image to enlarge). So this is some weird stuff. I definitely like it better than the first two I’ve had but not much. The broth was kind of thick and weird; not what one would normally expect from instant noodle broth; it’s more meaty if that makes any sense. Kind of like the broth you would get from boiling a turkey carcass for hours.  The thin rice vermicelli does work here and I liked them. The ‘veggies’ if you want to call them that danced around and kind of looked at my fork like some kind of alien scalpel of mistrust. In the end, not bad but not my fave by any means. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. Find it here.

#281: MAMA Oriental Kitchen Instant Cup Noodles Hot & Spicy Flavour

So here’s another of MAMA’s Oriental Kitchen line. I have a feeling this is going to live up to its name.

Clockwise from top: nifty folding fork, powder seasoning and veggies.

There’s the veggies and seasoning hanging out with the noodles awaiting theit hot water…

Click image to enlarge. Yeah – this is definitely hot and spicy! A lot of heat going on too! The noodles aren’t bad at all and the veggies rehydrate nicely. Really hot stuff! Wish it had a little more flavor and a little less heat, but it does say hot and spicy… 3.0 out of 5.0 stars. Get it here.
