#2593: Indomie Instant Noodles Onion Chicken Flavor (Soup Method)

#2593: Indomie Instant Noodles Onion Chicken Flavor (Soup Method) - Nigeria - The Ramen Rater

Note – so I originally reviewed thios one using the ‘dry’ method. This time after some outcry, I’ll be reviewing it made with the instructions for a soupy noodle. One should note however that the ‘dry’ method is the one that’s listed before the soup version.

Here’s one sent by Chef Ron from Mama Pat’s Foods – thank you! So I’ve reviewed a LOT of Indomie in the past, yet it’s hard to come by new varieties to try. Luckily, here’s the first of hopefully more from Indomie’s product line from Nigeria! As far as continents go, Africa has been just the toughest for me to get varieties from. Here’s a little about Indomie from Wikipedia –

Indomie is a brand of instant noodle by Indofood, the largest instant noodle manufacturer in Indonesia with 72% of market share.[1] It is distributed in Australia, Asia, Africa, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and European and Middle Eastern countries. Outside its main manufacturing plants in Indonesia, Indomie is also produced in Nigeria since 1995 where it is a popular brand and has the largest instant noodle manufacturing plant in Africa.

Let’s have a try at this onion chicken flavor instant and see how it is.

Finished (click to enlarge). So this time I used the ‘soup’ instructions. The noodles have a nice gauge and a very interesting chew. They border on the doughy side. The broth has a kind of onion and chicken flavor. I do like the little note of spiciness I get from the chilli powder. I will say however that the chicken has that kind of simulation flavor I’m not really all that fond of. I think this could’ve been a lot of better with the inclusion of some of Indomie’s fried onion. 3.25 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 089886130010.

Finished (click to enlarge). Added baked chicken and egg. I was really stoked on this one; then I had to cook it… I will say that I love these noodles – a little thicker gauge and a nice chew. However the flavor is just so unpalatable and salty that it just ruins it. Could be so much better if it wasn’t such an onslaught of saltiness. 1.5 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 089886130010.

Re-Review: Meet The Manufacturer: Mi ABC Mi Instan Rebus Rasa Ayam Bawang Onion Chicken Flavour

Close to 100 reviews ago, I tried this for the first time. Four years ago today, my wife and I had our first conversation! It’s a big anniversary for us – check out the video at the end for more on that. Let’s revisit this one by ABC President!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks to be meat free but check for yourself. To prepare, boil 400ml water. Add noodle block and cook 3 minutes. Put sachet contents in a bowl. Add liquid and noodles and stir in the bowl.

The noodle block.

A dual sachet – soup base on the left and chilli powder on the right.

Chilli powder atop the soup base.

Seasoned oil sachet.

Has a very strong onion scent.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added sauteed chicken with garlic salt. The noodles have a good body and texture to them. The broth is the real star here with a rich chicken and onion flavor which I liked a lot and the oil provides a little extra heatiness. Just as good as last time. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 8992388111237.

My wife and I met eachother on an online dating service. She lived in California, I in Washington. We first started talking four years ago today. The first phone call with eachother lasted over four hours! I remember we talked for over 12 hours Christmas Eve 2009! This became our song; we couldn’t get enough of talking to eachother and missed eachother so much when we couldn’t, although we hadn’t actually met eachother yet. That all changed though when she invited me down for New Year’s Eve. I accepted and the rest is history!
