#1195: Sawadee Instant Noodles Spicy Tomato Flavour

Here’s one that’s made in Malaysia but sold in the UK. Tomato! Usually a good bet. Some varieties taste like tomatoes au natural while others have a ketchup taste. Sawadee is Thai for hello. Let’s see how this one fares.

The back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks to be meat-free but check for yourself.

The noodle block.

The soup base sachet.

Has a salty scent.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added sauteed onions and beef and some tomato slices. The noodles are alright but unremarkable. The broth was definitely not spicy and the flavor was only kind of tomato like. 2.5 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 5023751102064.

Some things to know about traveling to Thailand.

#1041: Ko-Lee Instant Noodles Super Chow Mein Flavour

One of the last that Joe & Gil from the UK sent a while back – thanks again! I like chow mein, but what’s ‘super’ chow mein? Let’s see!

The back of the package (click image to enlarge). Looks to be free of meat ingredients. It also looks a lot oke mi goreng!

One of the larger chunks of noodle block.

A dual packet with chili powder and powder seasoning.

A very bright red chili powder atop the seasoning powder.

There’s another dual packet (sorry no picture of it) that contains seasoned oil (the light) and sweet soy sauce (the dark).

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added beef I sauteed in minced garlic and Worcestershire sauce, sweet onion, red, yellow and orange bell peppers, a fried egg and some Dua Belibis Chilli Sauce. The noodles are thin and very light. The flavoring is great – it’s so much like a mi goreng! Has a nice sweet and spicy thing going on. This is good stuff! 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 5023751104143.

Chris Kelly of Kris Kross died today. Sucks how a rapper has to die for old school tracks like this to make a resurgence…

#949: Ko-Lee Instant Noodles Chicken Flavour

Here’s another one sent from the UK by Joe & Gill! Thanks again! Chicken flavor, eh? Usually a pretty ho-hum variety but let’s give this one a chance.

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Notice a couple things: in the directions, it mentions cooking the noodles on the ‘hob,’ and towards the bottom it says it is made in Malaysia.

The noodle block.

Here’s the seasoning: a lone, reflective silver packet.

The powder is very salty and has a nice chicken flavor.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added green bell pepper, turkey lunch meat and some sesame seeds. The noodles are thin and light with a crumbliness I’ve found in other noodles that hail from Malaysia before. The broth has a very pleasant salty chicken flavor. The broth isn’t plentiful though; it seems that broth isn’t a big component of British instant noodles. Pretty good stuff – 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 5023751105034.

I think these are very odd commercials.

Here’s the other one.

#941: Ko-Lee Go Noodles Chicken Special Flavour

Here’s another one of the new ones that Joe & Gill sent me from the UK! Never tried this one before – they sent quite a few Ko-Lee varieties and sounded like they like them a lot. Let’s check out the chicken special!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). It mentions cooking them up in trhree different ways: instant (steeping), cooking (boiling) and ready to eaat. Ready to eat is crunching up the noodles in the bag and sprinkling the seasoning on and chowing down!

The block broke apart in the mail but did pretty well!

The powder seasoning.

Here’s the powder. It has a strong salty chicken taste. As I’m readying everything (I take the pictures and do everything up before I cook), there’s a distinct smell wafting around that’s reminiscent of boxed macaroni and cheese.

Seasoned oil.

I detect the scent of onion from this one.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added a scrambled egg with a little Dua Belibis chili sauce, stir fry veggies, sweet onion, thin sliced turkey breast and a sprinkle of Urashima Sesame & Salt furikake. The noodles are thin and buttery. The broth is really nice – has a rich chicken flavor and has a bit of thickness to it – not a sauce, just heartier. I liked it! Quite nice for a chicken noodle. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.  UPC bar code 5023751101111 .

Another one!

Amazing Donation From The UK!

A little while back, a couple named Joe & Gill from the UK sent me some pictures for the ‘Show Your Noodles’ competition. They also offered to send some noodles from across the pond! After a little while, here they are!

The bottom of the box was seriously munched. Everything inside fared extremely well, though!

They sent this nice card along with the noodles – awesome! They’ll be getting some The Ramen Rater stickers when the next batch is done! They said the box should be here withing 7-10 days and I believe it arrived in exactly 10.

Wow – look at them all! some that I’ve really been wanting to review for a long time! Pot Noodle Doner Kebab and Sticky Ribs! Amino Borscht! Tons of others I’ve never seen before that Joe recommended – Ko-Lee brand. This was absolutely above and beyond my expectations – you guys are awesome fans and I think I can say that not only myself but all readers truly appreciate your donation! Cheers!
