#2261: TableMark Tohokuno Aji Yonezawa Ramen

Here’s another one sent to me by Javier from Box From Japan. Box From Japan has subscriptions for all sorts of neat Japanese things. I regret to say that I was informed that they won’t be taking subscriptions for their ramen boxes for now – hopefully that will start again soon. He mentioned that you can purchase instant noodles from them here. Here’s what he had to say about this particular variety:

Local ramen in Yonezawa, located in the northeast. Noodle: Medium-thick non-fried noodles. Chewy and good texture. Soup: Sweet soy sauce flavor with a pork and chicken base that has dried anchovy and dried bonito to give it a light taste. The soup has a clean flavor so you can taste the soy sauce directly. Ingredients: Roasted pork, bamboo shoots, green onion, processed fish paste

Let’s check it out!

A rich looking liquid.

Hey look some pork and narutomaki as well!

Finished (click to enlarge). Added Salad Cosmo mung bean sprouts, spring onion, hard boiled egg and shichimi togarashi. The noodles are nice – good gauge and a unique chew I found very likable. The broth is a kind of fish influenced shoyu which is a little sweet and works well. The naruto and pork slice were alright and the bamboo shoots were definitely enjoyable. 4.0 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901520400492.

#1228: Maruchan Seimen Japanese Instant Noodles Shio Aji

Here’s one I got early this year the MBS TV station sent to me after I did the God Of Patena TV show! Thanks again – hope to be on again someday! Let’s check it out!

Here’s the back of the package (click image to enlarge). Not sure if it contains meat. To prepare, boil 500ml of water. Add the noodle block and cook for three minutes. In a separate bowl, add the contents of the liquid sachet. After the three minutes of cooking, put the noodles and broth into the bowl, stir, and it’s done.

Has a nice scent.

Finished (click image to enlarge). Added hard boiled egg and pork I sauteed with a little garlic salt. The noodles were premium with a nice gauge and chewiness that was akin to fresh variants of store-bought fresh ramen noodles. The broth had a good saltiness, but not overly so. It had a rich depth in soy taste, but not overwhelming. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars.UPC bar code 4901990511001.
