Kim Ve Wong Brand Jaopai Series: Vegetarian Instant Noodles Mixed Flavor Bowl Stars: ZERO
Notes: Never thought it possible to give a zero star rating to noodles, but this one gets it for sure. Sometimes, the noodles I try are almost too hot to eat, but I eat them anyways. However, these noodles weren’t at all palatable; they were horrid. A bowl with a retort pouch and a sesame oil packet and base. Very nasty, due to the low quality retort pouch innards. I wouldn’t wish this stuff on my worst enemy. Perhaps tasting the food they make prior to allowing it to leave the factory might be a good tip.

#4824: Nissin Cup Noodles Fish Head Curry Flavour – Singapore
Here’s a variety which has been released for Nissin Cup Noodles’ 52nd anniversary – one that was a limited edition, but now a full part of the Nissin SG lineup. When I had it a while back, it was great – let’s give it another try – new and improved style!
TOP TEN INSTANT NOODLES 2024
Every year I pick my favorites out of all the reviews I’ve done. In the past, I’ve had lists that have multiple companies with multiple entries. I decided this year that I would change that. Starting with this list, only one entry per company will be on the list. I’ll mention other noteworthy varieties in the text of each one which I think will give more opportunities for folks to try new things. This new way of doing things will be reflected in this list, the upcoming Bottom Ten, Top Ten Bowls, and Top Ten Cups lists.

The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Indonesian Instant Noodles Of All Time 2024 Edition
Well, I figured late is better than never. I compiled this list around September of last year and never got around to editing it up. Well, the kids are on spring break so I figured a great time to hunker down and get some work done. This list is a compilation of my favorite varieties of Indonesian instant noodles I’ve tried up to review 4,650. A lot of reviews have come out since I wrote this list, so you can be sure some of those will appear on the next list. I should note I’ve also compiled a list of all of the Indomie varieties I’ve tried here. You can see everything I’ve tried from Indonesia here. Also, I’m making a big change to Top Tens. That announcement can be seen below. With that, let’s look at The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Indonesian Instant Noodles Of All Time 2024 Edition.
#4800: Yumsu Chilli Fire Extreme Instant Noodles – United Kingdom
This one was sent by His Grace, the Rev. Dick Gazinya of the UK – my gratitude knows no bound, my friend. This one is of a brand I’ve not seen previously. It’s also made in Bangladesh for the British company Meeran. Anyways, let’s crack this one open and check it out.
#4754: Mom’s Dry Noodle Oyster Flavor Vermicelli With Scallop – Taiwan
Here’s something not seen before – a bowl from the folks at Mom’s Dry Noodle! Not only that, it’s got a pop-top – you’ll see that below. Let’s give this soup with scallop a try!
#4729: Current Instant Noodles Spicy Chicken – India
Found this at a local Indian grocery yesterday and very pleased that I did. I’ve seen these around online but never in a store and they had single packs which makes things much easier! Let’s crack it open and give it a try!
#4720: Trader Joe’s Garlic Sauce Thai Noodles – United States
Well folks, this is the last of the Trader Joe’s stuff I had. Honestly, these pouch noodles and sauce bowls have been surprisingly decent. The only problem are the bowls – you can’t just cut it up and scan it before you use it – rather irritating for yours truly, however my issues with the bowl itself probably aren’t an issue for 99.99% of those eating this. Let’s see how the garlic one is.
#4716: Nongshim Premium Udon Style Noodles With Shrimp Tempura – United States
Well, dang. I really would have loved to been able to review this sooner but tough to get samples from companies in the United States for some reason. Ah well. I found this at S*Mart – yup – shop smart, shop S Mart. Not sure if they just did a repackaging of the old version or not, but I’m guessing it’s a bit more than that. Let’s give it a try!
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten American Instant Noodles Of All Time 2024 Edition
This list is coming a bit late this year, but I figure late is definitely better than never. This one’s comprised of varieties made in, and specifically for the US market. Hit me up! Anyways, let’s check out The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten American Instant Noodles Of All Time 2024 Edition!
#4698: Galanlang Lanzhou Noodles – China
Think I found this one at 99 Ranch Market. I’ve had a few Lanzhou beef noodle instant varieties before. Let’s see how this stacks up.
#4692: Culley’s World’s Hottest Ramen Noodles 2.0 – New Zealand
Well, here we are folks. A few years ago, I tried Culley’s World’s Hottest Ramen Noodles 1.0. It’s funny; things that say ‘best ever’ and ‘greatest’ or ‘world’s’ often end up with a bit of disappointment. This delivers, and is an apt title. The 1.0 certainly was as such. This one as well. This transcends spiciness; it’s got Carolina Reaper and Ghost pepper mash in the wet sachet. I believe there’s reaper in the togarashi sachet as well. Indeed, some foreboding stuff going on here.

The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Taiwanese Instant Noodles Of All Time 2024 Edition
If there’s one thing that’s a certainty, companies from Taiwan tend to send me product samples more often than from any other country. They’re constantly innovating and refining, coming out with neat new things. Taiwan is a great place I’ve had the luck to visit twice. On one visit, I went to a large store and they had two aisles of just instant noodles that I really wish I would have taken pictures of. Now, what you’ll see on this list is mainly Taiwanese dry noodle. An ‘instant’ noodle is one that you can simply cover in boiling water for a short time and they spring to life. These require cooking. I hope to hear from Taiwanese instant noodle companies in the coming year; this is an invitation to you! It would be really nice to release a list of instant noodles alongside a list of dry noodles. This list is comprised of reviews of Taiwanese noodles up to #4650. Please check at the bottom for some special messages as well. With that, I hope you enjoy The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Taiwanese Instant Noodles Of All Time 2024 Edition!
#4614: Cielo Pozole Flavor Instant Ramen Noodle – United States
You might not be familiar with pozole – I have tried a pozole ramen in the past but unfortunately I still haven’t sampled the actual dish. Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about it – ‘Pozole (Spanish pronunciation: [po’sole]; from Nahuatl languages: pozolli, meaning cacahuazintle, a variety of corn or maize) is a traditional soup or stew from Mexican cuisine. It is made from hominy with meat (typically chicken , but possibly pork), and can be seasoned and garnished with shredded lettuce or cabbage, chilli peppers, onion, garlic, radishes, avocado, salsa or limes. Known in Mesoamerica since the pre-Columbian era, today the stew is common across Mexico and neighboring countries, and is served both as a day-to-day meal and as a festive dish.’
#4611: Samyang Foods Buldak Hot Chicken Stir-fried Noodles Jjajang – South Korea
Here’s another variety I’d not seen which came by way of The Fat Hipster, a guy who has tried some fascinating things on his YouTube channel, and is also part of Section42, a group of moderators for the Ramen Junkies group on Facebook. Check both out – and thanks, bro!
#4610: Thai Kitchen Garlic & Vegetable Instant Rice Noodle Soup – United States
I tried this 11 years ago. That’s a long time as far as my reviewing has gone. Back then it was review #761 – I still have the same bowl and I think I’ll use it again! Funny, I thought I got this from my mother in law and that I mentioned it in my review, but maybe it wasn’t this one. Hmm. Well, I gave it a 3.5 back then. Curious if I’ll like it now. It’s gluten free which I’ll mention to my wife. Let’s give it a try!
#4600: Kung Fu Noodles Premium Braised Beef Noodle Soup – Taiwan
While I tried this in May of 2022, I heard through the grapevine that there may be some changes to this one so I thought hey – I like beef noodle – can’t hurt to give it another try. Nothing better than Taiwanese beef noodle, that’s for sure. Let’s check out this premium boxed variety.
#4598: Raindrops Gummy Noodles Soft Candy Mix – United States
Here’s something I found at a Party City store while we were getting stuff for our daughter Mimi’s birthday. Says it’s made in The Netherlands which I think is interesting – I don’t know why, but I do. This looks pretty weird so let’s just get started.
#4563: Kung Fu Noodle Aged Shaoxing Wine With Chicken Drumstick Soup Noodle – Taiwan
What we have here is a super premium box. It’s pretty special and we don’t really see this much in the United States, if at all. The product comes with the soup ready to go – it’s a huge retort pouch. Then, the noodle is a dry noodle in a bag. That’s it – and the varieties like this I’ve reviewed in the past have been really quite amazing. This one sounds really quite good so let’s go ahead and give it a try!
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Global Instant Noodle Cups 2024 Edition
If you like walking around and eating things, instant noodle cups may be the way to go for your. Personally, I enjoy sitting in front of a bowl, but we don’t always have that convenience, so people opt for the convenience of something more portable, and here we are. These are my favorite cups that I’ve reviewed out of the reviews up to #4440. I’m always on the lookout for new varieties from everywhere in the world – whether they be cups, bowls, packs – any noodles I’ve not reviewed I’m very interested in sampling them. Please contact me if you’re a noodle company and you’d like me to try your products! With that, let’s peruse The Ramen Rater’s Global Top Ten Instant Noodle Cups 2024 edition.

The Ramen Rater’s Bottom Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time 2023 Edition
Quite a few years ago, July 8th, 2013 to be precise, I came out with my first The Ramen Rater’s Bottom Ten Instant Noodles Of All Time. I got the idea from a guy who worked at one of the world’s leading instant noodle companies. He asked ‘you have top tens, why not a bottom ten?’ I weighed the idea carefully. I could really piss off a great deal of people with my list. But what the hell – I do that already with my top tens – people are always disagreeing, and that’s fine. Ten years later, it’s time for my tenth installment of The Ramen Rater’s Bottom Ten Instant Noodles list. These are the worst (in my personal opinion) varieties I’ve ever had – mind you this is out of 4,400 reviews. Definitely not a list anyone wants to be on. What companies like I’m sure is when a product falls off the list and a new one gains my ire. This time it’s a horror show theme, done up with AI. Well, let’s check them all out – and remember, if you like some of these, that’s fine with me – just don’t expect me to eat them with you.
#4538: Nissin Cup Noodle Gyoza Big – Japan
Here’s an interesting one from Japan found in a Zenpop box – check out zenpop.jp and use the coupon code RAMENRATER for a discount!
TOP TEN BOWLS 2023
Been lagging on doing top ten list editing – my apologies. The weather’s been really good for walking, and in May I did over 500 miles. I included a special post at the bottom about it. I also included something of a change from how I’ve been doing things as well involving AI. Anyways, this is the annual The Ramen Rater’s Global Top Ten Instant Noodle Bowls – these are my favorite varieties out of review up to #4440 which are in the bowl style. Hope you enjoy! Top Ten Cups and Bottom Ten lists should be coming soon!
#4491: Acecook Noodle Harusame 1/3 Nichibun Chanpon Aji – Japan
Here’s one that came in a Zenpop.jp box – use coupon code THERAMENRATER for a groovy discount!
#4482: NoodleMix Signature Dry Noodle – Taiwan
I just finished reviewing NoodleMix’s konjac noodle bowls – now time for their dry noodles. This is their ‘signature’ flavor – let’s give it a try!
#4466: Maruchan Ramen Noodle Soup Creamy Chicken Flavor – United States
Well, it’s time to revisit a variety that grazes through my mind from time to time. This is creamy chicken and the name delivers. Definitely has been my favorite Maruchan Ramen Noodle Soup flavor in the past, but how is it going these days? It’s been since 2018 – so much has happened in the world since those salad days. Let’s give it another go.
The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Japanese Instant Noodles Of All time 2023 Edition
I get asked to do different top ten lists often – ones for people with dietetic restrictions, one for specific types of noodles, etc. The return of the Japan list should satisfy those who have wanted it to return. The problem with the Japan list is that Japanese varieties often come and go very quickly like the seasons; they are to be enjoyed and then remembered. Hopefully you’ll be able to find most of these, but if not it is because of this reason. This list is comprised of my ten favorite varieties from Japan out of my reviews up to number 4,400. If you’re in Japan and have varieties you think I should try or are a manufacturer there, please contact me. With that, here is The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten Japanese Instant Noodles Of All Time 2023 Edition.

I’ve tried these bowls in the past, however never the pillow packs. Really curious – let’s give them a try!
#4435: Phonomenal Bowl Beef – United States
Time for pho. I tried the chicken and remember I wasn’t too impressed, but beef is what pho is all about and it does mention this has received an award so I’ve got high hopes. Let’s give it a try!
#4430: Nongshim Shin Kimchi Big Bowl – South Korea
I’ve a couple fascinating varieties from the Shin range by Nongshim which came by way of The Fat Hipster – thanks man! He’s got a YouTube channel where does reviews you should check out. This is one I though was only in the UK but from the labeling it’s distributed throughout Europe – there fore its getting the South Korea stamp as it’s not just for one country but many. Let’s give it a try!

The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten South Korean Instant Noodles Of All Time 2023 Edition
After a couple years, here’s The Ramen Rater’s Top Ten South Korean Instant Noodles Of All Time 2023 Edition. It’s been a sort of tough go lately; so few new Korean varieties have crossed my desk. Usually they’ve all been ultra spicy ones, and while good, they’ve not been ones that are top ten listers. There should be a few new ones to the list for next years list that have yet to be published, though. If you’ve an instant noodle company in South Korea, I’d love to review your products. I used to receive samples from the larger companies quite often, but unfortunately not so much recently. #4358: Acecook Saigon Pho Vietnamese Rice Noodles Chicken – United States
Here’s another one I found over at S-Mart the other day. This one is made for export to the US – it’s kind of interesting – Acecook is a Japanese company with a factory in Vietnam, and Sanyo Foods (makers of Sapporo Ichiban) are distributing it. Looks interesting – let’s give it a try!
#4356: Jongga Seafood Flavored Noodle – United States
Found this one at Boo Han Market in Edmonds, Washington. This one is made in South Korea and packaged for US sale. Interesting style of noodle – let’s check this one out.
