Big thanks to Pher Engi for sending this one! A lot of the packaging is in Thai as well as English so I’m guessing it’s for sale in Thailand? Tricky, this one. I’m really curious about this – she also sent a soup version as well. After a little research, it turns out this is available at 7 Eleven in Thailand, so I was on the right track. Also, Jay Fai is a Michelin starred chef. Let’s give this a try!
Nongshim Shin X Jayfai Tom Yum Flavor Stir Fry – Thailand
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). Contains fish. To prepare, boil noodle and flake 2 minutes. Drain saving 30ml liquid (this is odd as they say approx 4 tbsp which should be 60ml so a little confused here). Add water and remaining sachets. Finally, stir and enjoy!
An instant noodle block.
A sachet of soup base powder seasoning.
A sachet of liquid soup base.
A sachet of vegetables.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added fish ball, crushed red pepper, sesame seed, and Thai basil. Noodle is great – no problems there. The flavor started with a big bump of heat and then it falls away. The tom yum flavor is honestly very nice – a combo of brightness, tanginess, and a savoriness that works well. Worth a try! 4.25 out of 5.0 stars. EAN bar code 8801043070409.
