Thank you to Exotic Noods for sending this along! So, this is the North American version. Overseas, it’s a duck blood vermicelli. It’s kind of funny – on the front of the box it has a cartoon like image and then it says serving suggestion. I don’t think I’ll be able to find a duck winking with a thumbs up – I could possibly find a rubber duch… I think I’ll just cook it and appreciate the suggestion and decline.
Hui Wei Zan Duck Broth Vermicelli Soup – China
Detail of the packaging (click to enlarge). It says it contains duck but I’m guessing it doesn’t – check for yourself. To prepare, boil noodle and solid garnish for 2 minutes. Add in remaining sachets. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Sweet potato vermicelli.
A retort pouch – I think this is the main soup base.
I believe this is what they’re referring to as the ‘ring roll.’
A sachet of vegetables.
Another sachet of vegetables.
A sachet of chili oil.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added sesame seed and scallion. This one was really fascinating. The noodle is sweet potato vermicelli – rather thick as well. The broth is an oily herb and almost beefy one which is really quite tasty. Lots of veg and quite a bit or tofu puff here and there. The fascinator here is the ‘ring roll’ as the backprint calls it – reminds me of egg roll. It’s good – a little chili oil heaty as well. 4.5 out of 5.0 stars. UPC bar code 804467036875.
Amazon – Perhaps this duck would look nice in there…
