Here’s a variety that I found in one of MiauMall’s Nakama Noodles subscription boxes! These boxes are discontinued, however you can find their stuff at MiauMall – here is what they said about this one – “We’ve got another cup of noodles with a kick that will have you seeing fireworks! This tasty cup soba combines a traditional bonito shoyu broth with the umami of chicken and pork and an accent of chili oil for a slight spicy touch! It also contains GABA to help relieve stress!”
This sounds interesting – but it should be noted that the amount of the GABA stuff is probably a sliver of what you’d need for stress relief – usually varieties with supplements in them have a small amount where you’d need to take a much larger amount for a while to notice a difference. But it does sound tasty so let’s cook it up!
Acecook Wise Man’s Soba Meat Chili Oil Soba – Japan
Detail of the side panels (click to enlarge). Contains fish, chicken, and pork. To prepare, fill to line with boiling water and cover 4 minutes. Add in sachet contents. Finally, stir and enjoy!
Detail of the lid (click to enlarge).
An instant noodle block.
Loose bits and seasoning from the cup.
A sachet of liquid soup base.
Finished (click to enlarge). Added Homiah Sambal Chili Crunch, scallion, sesame seed. Buckwheat soba had a nice chew which I didn’t expect. Broth had a moerate oiliness and a kind of shoyu taste to it. Light heat, but no meatiness that I could discern. Interesting and compelling. 3.5 out of 5.0 stars. JAN bar code 4901071404413.
Amazon – check these guys out – really great boxes!
